Still weeping, I fall into a troubled slumber. Darkness engulfs me. Glowing amber eyes emerge from the black, curving horns shining in demon fire as the red-skinned creature lunges forward, snarling my name. I flee from her, further into the shadows, only to feel the chill of the grave slide over my skin. I huddle, weeping, as a shining white vampire, her eyes flaring with spirit magic, thunders her fury.

“okay...” He opened another slit, mumbled words in an unknown language, and called the demons by name. Names that sounded more guttural than words. One by one, the demons went through the slit and disappeared, until there was only one left – the massive demon who still kept the four Morels pinned to the dining hall walls. It shivered as it heard its name and pulled its appendages back to it’s two bodies. The four assailants groaned as they fell and hit the floor, their black blood leaving trails on the walls.

If I had known they worked for him, I would have listened to that faint voice in my head and ran hard and fast. I knew who he was before I arrived in this country. Topher quickly shoved the ball of ice in the demon's mouth, stepping back. The demon began to glow from the inside. He puffed like a marshmallow and I could tell what was about to happen. Topher blocked me and himself with a shadow wall. He was beside me again, holding his arm over me in a protective stance. The sound of blood and organs hitting the walls and ground around us let me know he was dead…he had exploded.

She lunged at the third demon, wrapped her legs around its middle and plunged one of her knives into one of its toadlike eyes. The blade sizzled where it sank into the eyeball. Wailing in pain, the demon staggered around, Ayesha clinging to its back, and fell, pinning her to the floor.

Demon rasped, his voice choked. With a surge of strength, Demon twisted the man’s arm, breaking free of his grip. He grabbed a knife from his boot and plunged it into the man’s side, twisting it with a grimace of determination. The man’s eyes widened in shock, a gurgle of pain escaping his lips before he slumped to the floor, lifeless. Breathing heavily, Demon staggered to his feet, blood dripping from a gash on his forehead. He looked at Ashley, his eyes blazing with an intensity that took her breath away.

No dramatic hesitation before the impact, no moment to freeze and mutter a prayer. The demons just bashed into our line like a wave of corruption personified, and then there was only blood and screaming and chaos. The first that discovered me shouldn't have been able to move as it had. Its form warped mid-spring, joints twisting in the wrong direction, extra limbs extending from its body to swipe at three defenders simultaneously. I watched it tear through a Northern Claws warrior's throat before Garrett's massive body bore into it, his claws tearing into rotting flesh that failed to bleed normally.

It was the same attack that sun god used. “Leave my mate alone.” The wolf growled as the wave of solar energy released around him, washing over the vampire with a wave of fire and radiation. He felt his very being on fire! How is he still alive?! ~~~Samantha POV~~~ Spitfire.... Spitfire wake up.... Ugh I don’t want to get up! You must get up!
