Cassana glanced at Rei, who gave her an affirmative nod. "I hope you're not planning to be a bard, because you are terrible at it."

“Don’t make us kill you.” Ranger was not fazed by his threats. He grew a sinister grin on his face. He twitched his thumb along the side of the hilt. In the blink of an eye, the relic’s protruding structure was engulfed in a piercing, red flame that formed the shape of a great blade. The flame roared powerfully as it sustained itself, and the Domineers were awestruck and quaking with fear. The group’s leader struggled desperately to find his voice. “What are you doing?” he called to his cohort holding the strange gun. “Shoot him! Shoot him now!”

Any minute now, a horde of demons would burst out of the elevator and drag us back to the dungeons. “Stand behind me,” Griff stepped forward, his broad body a barrier between whatever would emerge from that infernal contraption and me. “No.” I stood at his side. “We face this together. It’s our only chance.” The elevator rose at a torturously slow pace, considering how fast it could move. It was almost as though the person riding it wanted to draw out our panic. Griff reached into the pocket of his tuxedo and extracted a gun. “Take this.” He pressed it into my hand. “I don’t know what iron bullets will do to a demon, but it will bloody well hurt.”

Everyone else chuckles as the man with the scar rises his gun, arm shaking as I look him in the eye. “You’ll be surprised what you learn in the Slums.” I deadpan, winking at the men as I raise my gun once more. "Well then I guess you’ll be just another Slums statistic when we kill you.” Blondie yells furiously, finger on the trigger. Unfortunately for them, they don’t get a chance to make good on that threat as Sky, Lia and Mia let bullets fly, killing each men with a shot to the heat for scar face, a shot to the head for blondie and a shot to the groin – which I believe is Sky’s shot – before I end the guy who’s ear I shot off with a shot to the head when he covers his now exploded groin.

But I barely registered that because HOLY SHIT, DAMON HAS A GUN. The guy instantly dropped the knife, his hands shooting up in surrender. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please, I'm sorry!" Damon tucked the gun back into his waistband like this was completely normal. Like he hadn't just threatened to murder someone in the middle of a public street. Like this was a regular Tuesday for him.

"O-one call please" Then, another gunshot. A single, deafening crack. My brain went blank as my phone slipped from my trembling fingers, hitting the ground with a dull thud. My breath hitched, and my entire body froze as a deafening silence settled around me. I turned slowly, dread twisting like a knife in my gut. And then I saw him. The demon standing over my friends' dead bodies. The gun was still in his hand, his grip loose, casual, like he hadn't just ripped two lives away in minutes. Like he hadn't just shattered my entire world.

“Oh shit, he was the antidote, so I asked for his help. He was here, just here. Damn it. that asshole, made a fool of us.” Ray went on his elbows and checked his arm, it looked throbbing red and all swollen, “Not fool really, I mean, I am alive.” I nodded and looked Cherry, before informing Ray what I knew about our enemy, “Yeah! You know his name is Gun. Do you know someone with that name?” “Are you shitting me?” Ray growled looking disgusted. I shook my head and frowned, “What? No, his name is really gun! He told me. apparently, he is into slavery or something because he said he named this himself.”

“Some mate you’re trying to be.” Ares lunged but before impact, a lazy clap cut through the tension. “Well, well,” a familiar amused voice drawled from the alley’s entrance, “isn’t this adorable?” Gunner strolled from the shadows like he owned the night. Dark jacket slung over his shoulder, smirk carved across his sharp jaw, eyes glinting with wicked delight. He looked like violence wrapped in laughter. “You two are a riot.” He tilted his head mockingly. “One idiot tries to force a bond, the other plays the hero. Both tripping over your dicks for a girl who clearly wants nothing to do with your caveman crap.”
