For a moment, the only sound I heard is heavy breathing. It's the sound of my heaving chest, Thorne's ragged breaths, Lucius's and Damien's low growls. My thighs are still tingling when Damien speaks, "Again. Both this time." I turn to look at him and the look that meets me is.... Terrifying. Damien's eyes are wild, his brown eyes swirling with something like a storm. His knuckles are white and tight as he strokes himself. His eyes hold my gaze for a moment and I swallow.

I staggered back, clutching my chest, vision flashing violet at the edges. Mother gasped. “Ivy…Calm down, stop and breathe.” But my breath came jagged, raw. The walls seemed to bend inward, the floor trembled under my feet. Something inside me clawed, desperate to rip free. And then, like a rope thrown to a drowning soul, Damon’s sigil lit up in my mind. That spiral curve, that deliberate breath, the grounding mark he pressed into my skin. I traced it into my palm with shaking fingers, inhaled once, twice, like he had taught me.

He expelled the cloth from his mouth and drew a deep breath, his chest heaving as he unleashed a series of urgent cries into the stillness of the room. "Hello! Can anybody hear me?" Damon's voice echoed, bouncing off the walls, his plea punctuated by a mixture of fear and hope. He strained his ears, waiting anxiously for any sign of a response, but all he received in return was a haunting silence that seemed to mock his predicament.

I was now beyond scared horrified by his sudden change in behavior as the atmosphere got colder if not darker and his grip around my neck got tighter and tighter. “Mhhhh! Ahhh!” It was almost as if he wasn’t even seeing me just possessed by something or a demon of some sort . I tried to tell him to stop and make him let go of me but he just tightened his grip around my neck more and more making it harder for me to breathe . I was struggling against him just thrusting and struggling to breathe when I suddenly lost all strength to fight ,my body went limp ,my mind going blank and everything went black as I took my last breath ####

“Now hold it and exhale.” She remained silent. “Exhale, Nova.” Her face began to turn red. I rolled my eyes and made sure she saw it, but had to turn away as the urge to smile made my lips start twitching. Nova had always been dramatic, but Nova without her beauty sleep … whew. I could relate, and that’s the only reason why I was being nice to her about it. We were both being haunted by demons, mine were just of my own making. “Holding your breath won’t kill you, it’ll just make you pass out, which will likely bring the demon out sooner than we want.” I flicked her nose. “So, exhale.”

Morning arrives without warning, but not with the soft light seeping through the curtains—it comes with the heat already burning beneath my skin before I even open my eyes. A heat that doesn’t come from the sun, but from them. Demon is behind me, his body pressed to mine as if, sometime during the night, we’d decided without words that there wasn’t enough space to keep us apart. His breathing is slow, deep, and every time he exhales I feel the tickle of his breath against my neck.

My breath came in short, sharp gasps as I pressed my back against the wall, my limbs trembling uncontrollably. The demons stood at the door, their eyes filled with eerie stillness and coldness as their towering figures claimed the space of the room. Their claws were long and sharp, skin blacker than coal, limbs an unnatural amount, and sharp horns on their heads. I clenched my hands into fists, trying to keep them from shaking, but my body refused to listen. My entire being screamed at me to run, to get as far away from them as possible, but my back was already against the wall, there was nowhere to go.

My legs turn weak as they shake and shiver and I begin to lose my balance. Deimos holds my hip with his right hand steadying me and his left palm meets the surface of the wall behind me whilst his lips never leaving mine. I tear my lips from his and speak before he devours them again. "Let me breathe, my male," I say breathless trying to feed oxygen to my derived lungs.

The demon just cackled as he watched them, the noise sounding like boulders grating against each other. His body was a deep red, almost as if it had been dipped in blood. His eyes were almost as dark as his body, with no whites to be seen, almost as if they flowed from his body straight to the pupils. He had pointy ears and two small horns in the middle of his slick scalp. His teeth were just as yellowed as Baltabek's, and his fingers and toes were scrawny claws that resembled small talons from a twisted bird.
