Diamond In Disguise: Now Watch Me Shine Novels & Stories

“Paparazzi are everywhere. And bed rest… I’m out of the showcase. Months of rehearsal are gone.” “I can’t dance… and the—” her voice cracked. “Come home with me,” I said simply. “My place is quiet and secure. No cameras. Dre and I will keep them away.” She searched my face. “You sure?” “Never been more sure.” She nodded, tears slipping. “Okay.” A few days later, she was discharged. We took her in a wheelchair to the car and used a hidden route out the back. We got her settled in my bedroom—pillows propped, windows overlooking the city but far from prying eyes.

the door slammed shut, leaving me alone in the dim light of the bathroom, I turned back to the shattered mirror. The air in the room suddenly grew heavy, cold, and smelling faintly of jasmine perfume. I blinked rapidly, my heart hammering violently against my ribs as the reflection in the glass shifted once more. Standing right behind me, her arms wrapped loosely around my shoulders like a lover, was Jessica. Her hair cascaded over my chest, her freezing eyes locking onto mine through the cracked silver surface. "You're making another mistake, Davis," her voice echoed in my head, a soft, mocking whisper that sounded entirely real. "You always choose the fake diamond over the real steel. Did

SIERRA POV New York glittered beneath the night sky bright, loud, and full of people who thought they were untouchable. They had no idea I was here. I adjusted the diamond bracelet on my wrist, blending effortlessly with the wealthy elites gathered inside the museum. Expensive dresses, champagne glasses, fake smiles this was my playground. And tonight? I was here to steal the most valuable piece in the room. The blue diamond. “Positions?” I murmured softly, my voice low as I spoke into the hidden microphone.

“You want?” “Of course, fuck, I stole it.” I grab it from Diamond and she rolls her eyes, as she turns to put the other room light on. “Wanna watch Boston Legal?” Diamond asks, and I shrug my shoulders. Sienna is quiet, but scoots in the middle of the bed. I hold her as Diamond puts on Boston Legal, and the three of us pretend we are actually watching.

“Close my door for me, abeg! Which kind nonsense be this. I said, close my door!” I shut the door immediately, and after she hisses at me, she returns to arguing with the person on the phone. “Nawa o,” I say. As I turn away from her door, I recall what I saw and can't erase. Diamond is wearing a bra and bum short, but how she's dressed isn't what made my eyes go wide. It's the dark whip-marks across her back that shocked me to the core. I didn't know what to make of it. I still don't.

He might make a move. We find William waiting for me and Tiger in the reception hall. He chuckles when he sees our ridiculous disguise. Jennie spent hours doing our makeup, choosing our outfits and wigs to not get recognised outside. We became Diamond and Andrew again. “Don’t laugh, I look weird.” I pout. William laughs again and caresses my blond wig, “You look good actually. They won’t recognize you this way.” he says, admiring Jennie’s work. I can’t believe how makeup can change someone’s face completely. She made me look thinner and my eyes smaller.

The air in the suite was brittle. Dianthe stood before the full-length mirror, staring at her reflection. She wasn't the girl from the ranch today. She wasn't the nurse in scrubs. She reached into her jewelry case and pulled out the diamond ring Garette had bought her—the one she had called a "shackle." She put it there before she took a shower. She slid it onto her finger, the stone catching the cold Cambridge light like a weapon. Garette watched her from the doorway, his eyes dark and unreadable. He had seen her handle medical emergencies with ice in her veins, but he had never seen her look like this—composed, sharp, and dangerous.

It was the most glamorous event of the year—on the surface. But beneath the sparkle, everything was calculated. Every guest vetted. Every camera monitored. Sienna walked beside Damian, breathtaking in a deep emerald gown that shimmered with each step. She felt exposed, vulnerable, but determined. If Morelli’s people were watching, she wanted them to see: she wasn’t afraid anymore. Inside, Clara mingled effortlessly, slipping whispers to key guests, planting seeds of doubt. Mia monitored the surveillance feeds from the hotel’s secure room. And Damian—Damian scanned the room for the ghost he knew would come.

"The Winter Gala is tonight. We aren't waiting for the Council to find us. We're going to show the world exactly who you are." Three hours later, I stood in front of a mirror, and I didn't recognize the girl staring back. I was wearing an obsidian gown that felt like a second skin. It was high-collared but had no back, showing the smooth, strong line of my spine. My hair was pulled up, and for the first time in my life, I wasn't wearing a maid’s cap. I was wearing a crown of black diamonds. "You look like a queen," Zade said, standing behind me. He was dressed in formal military leathers that made him look lethal and impossibly handsome.

Chapter 45: A Dance with Shadows The gala sparkled with glamour, a testament to the wealth and influence of those in attendance. The air buzzed with the soft hum of conversation, laughter, and the occasional clink of champagne glasses. Melissa, now disguised as Allison Roman, moved through the crowd with practiced grace. She wore a sleek black gown, her hair styled in an elegant updo, and her demeanor calm yet alert. Every step she took felt like a calculated move in a high stakes game of chess.
