Iris’s POV My wrist burned from just how much he gripped it. Possessively. Fearfully. I almost thought they would fall off. We were on our way to where his car was parked, at the foot of the hiking trail. “Were you going to burn the church down if they didn’t let you through?” I asked, although I already knew the answer to that question deep down. Damon was a ruthless man, I knew that. And this very fact answered my question.

“You need to run, Luna. You need to hold on to him and run.” I heard her say as she encouraged her. Marissa, Tatiana, pushed her toward the window. I watched, paralyzed, as Evelyn leapt through it with Damon in her arms. Then the fire surged. I saw my Tatiana’s hands pressed against the glass, skin blistering, eyes locked on mine. And then… The floor gave way. Her body vanished into the flame. And all I had left was the sound of my men shouting, and the last memory of her eyes, filled not with fear, but with peace.

The Alpha’s voice becomes low and intense. He swallows hard, and his fist clenches hard as he recalls Sera's disappointed eyes before he knocks her unconscious. Damon closes his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm his rising anger. When he opens them, his penetrating gaze locks onto Lana's eyes, where unshed tears shimmer. “Why the tears?” He asks as though he wasn't also on the verge of being moved to tears when he realized the extent of Sera’s deception, and how he had contributed to make his mate a victim.

His once powerful roars now echoed the desperate gasps of a wolf pushed to its limits. In a final, brutal assault, Damian overcame Dad. The once loyal Beta turned on his Alpha, severing the lifeline that bound them. Dad fell, blood staining the frozen ground, his eyes reflecting the agony of betrayal. With Dad defeated, Damian, his silhouetted form a spectre against the moonlit backdrop, retreated into the depths of the woods. I, unseen and still, bore witness to the aftermath—the scary quietness that followed the storm.

Elena waited for him to stop, to show shame, to do something that indicated he cared about being caught betraying his mate. Instead, Damien held her gaze and kept going. "Close the door, Elena," he said, his voice rough with pleasure. It was like being shot. Like having her heart ripped out and shown to her while it still beat. Elena stumbled backward, her hand over her mouth. She was going to be sick. She was going to die. She was going to…

It was flying towards their ship, heads-on. Everyone went silent, awed by the striking scene in front of them. However, as the majestic dragon came nearer, its outlines blazed and its skin burned. Then, it was completely covered by fire that they didn’t see what happened to it next. Ellaine looked away; she can’t witness the dragon dying. Yntreia held her hand. “Look.” And she was forced to. She looked back and saw that when the fire burned out and the puff of smoke disappeared, a smaller figure emerged.

Anderios sat the same if anyone had entered his bedroom he couldn't see nor tell. "A-Andreios," Elena whispered before bolting from the room. *************** Damon had just finished getting dressed and was about to leave his room to that of his Master's when his door burst open and Elena came tumbling into his hands. Both Damon and Xrysos knew of this occurrence from Anderios but it had never gotten out of hand that it had ever required him nor their Master. But today it seems it has. "Damon." Elena cried and fell to her knees as tears flow down her cheeks. Damon quickly went to his knees to gather the woman into his arms.

I asked him as I realised that there may not have been a baby on the way anymore. “ Damn it Damien, will you just listen to me” he said as he let go of Elena with one of his hands and then he reached for something behind him. I instantly pulled the trigger and aimed for his arm. He dropped Elena to the ground and I ran to pick her up and move her away from him and into the car.

She'd probably hate to see us, especially after what went down today. When Jake bolted to the pack hospital, cradling Elena who was out cold, not a second passed before we all trailed behind. Her once flawless honeyed skin now marred by burns and marks haunted our thoughts. We'd attempted to diffuse the tension earlier knowing full well of Alice's envy towards Elena. But by the time we arrived, the damage was done... It must have been agonizing for her, wouldn't it? Did she deserve any of it? Maybe not... or maybe yes?
