I knew she’d noticed things she just didn’t know how to name them yet.
And I wasn’t about to tell her. She wasn’t ready.
If I told her the truth, that Isaac’s energy felt wrong, that something ancient hummed beneath his skin, that I’d seen a thousand kinds of magic and whatever he held wasn’t any kind I could place, she’d do one of two things.
