REAH'S POV

It had been two weeks since that day, and my mother never opened her eyes again. She went back to being a vegetable, and no matter what the doctors did, she never woke up again.

I spent days with her, crying and praying she would open her eyes again, but no miracle happened.

What she said that day kept crossing my mind. She wanted me to run away, but from what? From who? To where? And what was it that scared her so much?

From my memory, my mother and I were living peacefully before she collapsed and was diagnosed with an unknown disease, which later developed into stomach cancer.

My memory seemed broken, and no matter how hard I tried to think, I couldn't remember my childhood or what led my mother to live as a single mother.  My first memory was when I opened my eyes in a hospital, and my mother was beside me with watery eyes. She had been my only family since then, and I had never for once asked about my father because deep down in my mind, I knew my mother didn't want me to ask.

My memory started when I was about 10 years old. I had no memory of my childhood before 10 due to an accident I couldn't even recall, and my mother just told me to run away. Where to? What should I do?

I've been thinking about this for the past two weeks, and many times, I would encourage myself to do as she said, but where would I run to? There were so many questions, but no one to answer them... It made me sick.

I held my forehead as I placed my head on my pillow, sighing sadly. For the past two weeks, the thought of my mother and my strange sickness was enough to drag me to the door of hell, but what was more annoying was the fact that the silly mark on my neck never healed!

My phone started ringing, and it was a call from the doctor, I answered the call and placed the phone on my ears. "Doctor, what's it?" I asked weakly... I had been feeling weak for a few days already.

Throwing up in the morning, loss of appetite, dizziness, and even weakness. It was unpleasant.

"Reah, can you come over to the hospital? There is something we need to talk about." The doctor said, and I sighed.

"Okay," I replied and ended the call.

I quickly put on a pair of trousers and a loose blouse. Packed my hair to the back and tied it for more air, and carried my bag. I made my way to the hospital in a low spirit.

"Reah, you're here." Doctor Frank said as he opened the door and let me in. He looked at my pale face and frowned. "Are you okay?" He asked, and I forced a smile.

"I'm okay." I lied.

My head was aching, and I felt nauseous and weak~

He frowned slightly. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say more but shrugged and walked over to his seat. "I called you here to talk about your mother. What's your plan for her? I'm sure you know our hospital is no longer suitable for her. She needs to be in a bigger hospital where there are doctors who know about her illness, not a small city hospital like ours here. What do you want to do for her now?" His voice was filled with concern as he talked to me about my mother.

"I had thought about it too. After she closed her eyes again two weeks ago, I have been thinking about it and also trying my best to look for more money so I can send her to a bigger hospital, but things are not going very well. I need some time to gather some money, I will let you know when I'm prepared enough." I explained, and he nodded, a slow sigh escaping his lips.

We talked more about my mother for a while before I decided to leave the room to see my mother. I grabbed the door handle and pressed down on it, but my hand suddenly slid, and my head felt light. I fell backward only to be caught by two strong arms. "Reah, are you okay?" Doctor Frank asked, and I finally shook my head.

"I'm not fine. I feel weak, nauseous, and sick." I replied, and his eyes twitched.

He said no word to me as he helped me to his office's VIP room and conducted a test on me. An hour later, He returned to me with a worried look on his face and placed the result on the table in front of me.

My eyes twitched when I saw the reaction on his face, and I felt a bad premonition. I picked up the result only for me to shake my head in disbelief when I saw what was written there. "This is crazy. There is no way this is real, right?" I asked, tears rolling welling up in my eyes. "No way in hell this is real, Doctor." I pressed, unable to believe what I saw.

We only did it once. We only met once. So___ how?

"Maybe this is a fake result, or it belongs to someone else. God can't be so cruel to me, Doctor." I cried and denied it, but the truth was already in front of me, and there was nothing I could do about it.

I was pregnant...

I was carrying Alpha Xavier's baby in my belly.

Someone who told me he never wanted to see me again? Someone who told me to forget about everything.

How was I supposed to raise the baby alone?

I clenched my fingers around the result and stood up. Without saying a word, I walked out of the hospital with a dead spirit.

It was over.

A light fragrance wafted into my nose, and my dead heart pounded. Lifting my eyes, I saw Xavier standing at the entrance of the hospital, and our eyes met.

My head was aching terribly but I was more restless.Too restless to continue closing my eyes until I felt better.I opened my eyes and turned my head to see who was crying beside me. My eyes twitched when I realized it was Joyce. Of course, I remembered everything that happened to me before I lost consciousness and that was the reason I did not want to open my eyes at first.I was scared Alpha Xavier might be in the room with me, but after searching around with my eyes, I realized Joyce was the only one with me, which was weird. She had her head lowered as she cried profusely; her appearance at the moment was heartbreaking, as I could feel she was truly despairing."Joyce?" I called with a hoarse voice and she raised her head. Her t

REAH'S POV "Don't do this, please~" I continued pleading while tearing up. Gabriel pressed kisses on my neck. His face was hot, and when he raised his head, a single tear rolled down his face. He released one of his hands that pinned down my hands and wiped the tears on my face, "Reah..." He called with a pain-filled voice. At that moment, I felt like my heart had been pierced. Sadness overwhelmed me, and there was a lump in my throat as tears rolled down my face. I had no idea what was going on but I knew something wasn't right. Gabriel wiped my tears again "I'm sorry, Reah," He mumbled before he pressed down on my neck and started kissing it again. He moved down and removed the blanket covering me. The feeling in my body was getting worse, the effect of the drugs had gotten stronger and I found myself slowly enjoying the moment even though I knew it was bad. Tears continued rolling down my face as I stopped struggling and closed my eyes. The drug had immobilized me and being

REAH'S POV The party continued, and people greeted me and returned to make connections. It was a party that gathered many tycoons of the world so, many people wanted to use that opportunity to make connections to develop their businesses. I watched as they all came and left, Fryster had been dismissed by me earlier because he was too much of a workaholic and couldn't stand for an hour without making business calls. Alpha Xavier seemed to be disturbing him with something, too, so I let him go, and he had excused himself out of the hall for more than an hour already. Seeing that the party was reaching the climax, I stood up from the high seat and walked over to Joyce, who was dancing with an Alpha. Seeing me, her eyes brightened, and she took my hand, tacitly moving away from the Alpha. "Babe, you're here. Are you tired of sitting?" She asked with a raised brow. I pursed my lips and flicked her forehead. "What a good friend you are. You didn't even attempt to see your friend over

REAH'S POV The host had just started talking when I suddenly felt pressed. I stood up, attracting Beta Mathew's attention and he rushed over. "Beta Mathew, you don't have to be so attentive. Alpha did not put me in your care today, so you should enjoy it," I said with some dissatisfaction. If I knew he would be like this, I would have just stayed at home instead of coming to the party to disturb him. I felt like he wouldn't enjoy the party as much as I did, and it was quite frustrating. He looked at me and shook his head "It's nothing, Luna. Fryster should be on his way already so he will take over. My mind won't be at peace if I don't watch and protect you," He explained. Knowing no amount of words would change his mind, I just shrugged and stepped down the high seat with his help "I want to use the bathroom. I will be right back," I told him before turning around to leave. The hall was big but it wasn't a big deal finding the bathroom. I eased myself as quickly as I could so I

REAH'S POV "We are here, Luna," Beta Mathew's voice was like a whisper as he opened the car door for me. His eyes had a complicated gaze, and it had been there since he got to the Castle and saw me. He was stunned for a while but his gaze was soon clouded with that complication I had no idea about. I stepped out of the car, and the dress fluttered in the wind. I held my purse in front of me as he made way, and I stepped forward. "You don't look very good, Beta. You look worried," I asked, staring at his face. We were close enough to talk about things. Beta Mathew was slowly becoming a friend. His eyes twitched, and he lowered his eyes. "I'm just worried, Luna. You look too good in this dress, you look almost unreal, and there are lots of men at the party tonight. Some Alphas even came to grace the celebration on behalf of Alpha. I'm scared your beauty will cause war between Packs..." He explained and sighed."You know how possessive Alpha Xavier could be. He could take a single

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 67: THE DRESS

REAH'S POV The countdown finally ended and it was Beta Mathew's mother's birthday. Alpha Xavier put on his wristwatch before turning to look at me "Are you going for the birthday party?" He asked. I sat up in bed and nodded. "Beta Mathew invited me so I have to go," I gently replied while smiling at him.Alpha Xavier had been treating me well for the past four days already. Although he hardly smiled, his eyes no longer held the usual coldness anymore and he would always clean me up after sex. "I already told Martha to prepare a dress for you. She should bring it in two hours," He muttered and picked up his phone. My eyes lit up and I bit my lower lip with excitement "You prepared a dress for me?" I asked, unable to hide my joy. He looked at me and nodded "Yes, I told her to design one that wouldn't show your baby bump. I'm sure you really want to hide that," He said and walked over. Without saying a word, he planted a kiss on my lips "I won't be attending the party. I have a b
