REAH'S POV

It had been two weeks since that day, and my mother never opened her eyes again. She went back to being a vegetable, and no matter what the doctors did, she never woke up again.

I spent days with her, crying and praying she would open her eyes again, but no miracle happened.

What she said that day kept crossing my mind. She wanted me to run away, but from what? From who? To where? And what was it that scared her so much?

From my memory, my mother and I were living peacefully before she collapsed and was diagnosed with an unknown disease, which later developed into stomach cancer.

My memory seemed broken, and no matter how hard I tried to think, I couldn't remember my childhood or what led my mother to live as a single mother.  My first memory was when I opened my eyes in a hospital, and my mother was beside me with watery eyes. She had been my only family since then, and I had never for once asked about my father because deep down in my mind, I knew my mother didn't want me to ask.

My memory started when I was about 10 years old. I had no memory of my childhood before 10 due to an accident I couldn't even recall, and my mother just told me to run away. Where to? What should I do?

I've been thinking about this for the past two weeks, and many times, I would encourage myself to do as she said, but where would I run to? There were so many questions, but no one to answer them... It made me sick.

I held my forehead as I placed my head on my pillow, sighing sadly. For the past two weeks, the thought of my mother and my strange sickness was enough to drag me to the door of hell, but what was more annoying was the fact that the silly mark on my neck never healed!

My phone started ringing, and it was a call from the doctor, I answered the call and placed the phone on my ears. "Doctor, what's it?" I asked weakly... I had been feeling weak for a few days already.

Throwing up in the morning, loss of appetite, dizziness, and even weakness. It was unpleasant.

"Reah, can you come over to the hospital? There is something we need to talk about." The doctor said, and I sighed.

"Okay," I replied and ended the call.

I quickly put on a pair of trousers and a loose blouse. Packed my hair to the back and tied it for more air, and carried my bag. I made my way to the hospital in a low spirit.

"Reah, you're here." Doctor Frank said as he opened the door and let me in. He looked at my pale face and frowned. "Are you okay?" He asked, and I forced a smile.

"I'm okay." I lied.

My head was aching, and I felt nauseous and weak~

He frowned slightly. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say more but shrugged and walked over to his seat. "I called you here to talk about your mother. What's your plan for her? I'm sure you know our hospital is no longer suitable for her. She needs to be in a bigger hospital where there are doctors who know about her illness, not a small city hospital like ours here. What do you want to do for her now?" His voice was filled with concern as he talked to me about my mother.

"I had thought about it too. After she closed her eyes again two weeks ago, I have been thinking about it and also trying my best to look for more money so I can send her to a bigger hospital, but things are not going very well. I need some time to gather some money, I will let you know when I'm prepared enough." I explained, and he nodded, a slow sigh escaping his lips.

We talked more about my mother for a while before I decided to leave the room to see my mother. I grabbed the door handle and pressed down on it, but my hand suddenly slid, and my head felt light. I fell backward only to be caught by two strong arms. "Reah, are you okay?" Doctor Frank asked, and I finally shook my head.

"I'm not fine. I feel weak, nauseous, and sick." I replied, and his eyes twitched.

He said no word to me as he helped me to his office's VIP room and conducted a test on me. An hour later, He returned to me with a worried look on his face and placed the result on the table in front of me.

My eyes twitched when I saw the reaction on his face, and I felt a bad premonition. I picked up the result only for me to shake my head in disbelief when I saw what was written there. "This is crazy. There is no way this is real, right?" I asked, tears rolling welling up in my eyes. "No way in hell this is real, Doctor." I pressed, unable to believe what I saw.

We only did it once. We only met once. So___ how?

"Maybe this is a fake result, or it belongs to someone else. God can't be so cruel to me, Doctor." I cried and denied it, but the truth was already in front of me, and there was nothing I could do about it.

I was pregnant...

I was carrying Alpha Xavier's baby in my belly.

Someone who told me he never wanted to see me again? Someone who told me to forget about everything.

How was I supposed to raise the baby alone?

I clenched my fingers around the result and stood up. Without saying a word, I walked out of the hospital with a dead spirit.

It was over.

A light fragrance wafted into my nose, and my dead heart pounded. Lifting my eyes, I saw Xavier standing at the entrance of the hospital, and our eyes met.

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 50: ISABELLA

ALPHA XAVIER'S POV I stared at Reah who was still sleeping peacefully on the bed. Her lips had a small smile that confused me and warmed my heart somehow. Reah was an enemy. Without a doubt, she was the little girl who tried to kill me back then and the main reason I could no longer find Mina. Knowing that I had always promised myself to kill whoever caused that fire if I ever met her again, only for me to meet that culprit and be helpless, I felt very frustrated. I was supposed to kill Reah, I was supposed to torture her and make her feel the pain I felt with Mina that day but... Mere seeing her in pain made my heart ache so much that it was usually hard to breathe. She owed me the debt of life which I was supposed to take from her but the thought of killing her alone made me feel miserable. I felt guilty. So guilty that I stopped searching for Mina because I knew more than anyone else that I didn't deserve her anymore. The fact that the culprit was living in my home as my wife

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 49: HIS

REAH'S POV "I will take my leave now," Beta Mathew said as he left the room. I just continued waving my hand at his back absent-mindedly. Instead of reading so many books every day, I would rather just escape and return when Lady Bella returned. There was no need to continue staying in this house, right?I pouted my lips as I hung my shoulders low, it was impossible to run!I dragged the already heavy bag to the couch in the room and dropped it before sitting. I opened the first book *Fifty things a pregnant woman shouldn't do,*The title alone already looked so boring that it made me want to sleep. I stared at the book for a while before opening the first page to see what was written inside exactly. Seeing the first page, I suddenly felt intrigued because apart from the big writing of the publisher, there were pictures there too! It was like a book made for kids but that only went ahead to show how creative the writer and the publisher were. *I know how lazy pregnant women can b

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 48: INVITATION

REAH'S POV "Alright, thanks," I replied as I collected the envelope and returned to the room. I opened the envelope and brought out the invitation card inside. It was a black card, thin and long. It had a metallic feeling even though I knew it wasn't metal. Touching the paper made me realize that they must have spent a lot of money to make it. That was expected though, not all Luna had the same treatment I had in Alpha Xavier's home so there was no way they wouldn't have a lot of money to do as they wanted. I dropped the invitation card on the table and walked toward the mirror to look at myself. As expected, I was a beauty, a very beautiful girl who might have won herself a very good man if she was even a tiny bit lucky. My hand pressed on my belly and I let out a deep breath. My mind felt hazy from the tiredness...I stood up after a while and returned to the bed to rest again. All I could do for the day was sleep and sleep, right?Closing my eyes, I soon slept off and only wok

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 47: FIRED

REAH'S POV After an hour or so, Alpha Xavier stood up and walked toward the bathroom. He spent a few minutes in the bathroom before he stepped out with his towel on his waist and his eyes fell on me. "Get up and sleep on the floor," He ordered. My brows furrowed, and my mouth parted to ask him questions but in the end, I could only swallow and stand up as he said. I entered the bathroom and had a nice bath before I returned to the room in my bathrobe. I placed some blankets on the ground, slept and covered myself with another. Alpha Xavier was already in bed by the time I came out of the bathroom and he seemed to be sleeping already, too. I turned around and rested my head on my hand, wanting to look at his side profile that faced me. A long nose and a perfect side profile with a very clean skin that would make a woman jealous. I let out a deep breath and closed my eyes gently. Right then, I realized my feelings for Alpha Xavier were slowly fading away. Maybe he had indeed done

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 46: EATEN CLEAN

REAH'S POV My eyes widened and I was incredibly shocked. I subconsciously touched my lips that had been kissed, my head turned slightly to look at Gabriel but to my surprise, he was already fast asleep!"You've been having a lot of fun, Luna Reah," Alpha Xavier said coldly, his eyes dark and gloomy. The room was quiet, everyone was looking at us and the music had stopped. Joyce walked over, her face was flushed and she looked very scared "A... Alpha..." She stuttered. Hearing that, a gasp filled the room and the next second, everyone fell on their knees as if they'd done something terrible except Gabriel, who was still sleeping soundly. "Alpha!" They all chorused as greetings and some of them raised their heads to look at me. Their eyes were filled with confusion when they saw the Alpha holding my hand and I knew they must be wondering what our relationship was. Alpha Xavier left my hand and grabbed my waist "My wife must have drank a lot," He said calmly but only I knew how co

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 45: BIRTHDAY PARTY

REAH'S POV The day flew faster than expected and before I knew it, it was already Gabriel's birthday! It was a Saturday party, so there was no work hindrance and due to the nutrients I'd been taking, The doctors confirmed that my baby was very strong already. They even told me to stop as too much of everything was worse than not taking it at all. Alpha Xavier had traveled since yesterday for a business trip with Fryster which made me very happy. I did not even bother to tell him about the birthday party because he would only come on Monday ~I had arrived at Gabriel's place an hour ago, waiting for Gabriel who had gone to his office to pick up some things he forgot yesterday. Joyce and I already prepared everything. The birthday party, according to Gabriel should be very small with an attendance of not more than twenty guests. He wasn't planning to have too many guests so we decided to have the party in his house instead of renting a hall for just less than twenty guests. "We are

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 44: SHOPPING WITH JOYCE

REAH'S POV "You don't like the food here?" I was so surprised. Then, why did he eat with me earlier?Fryster seemed to notice my confusion as he smiled "It was your first day here and you might feel lonely eating alone. I decided to join you but the truth was that it was my first time eating here then," He explained and my eyes widened. He had his hands in his pocket as he looked at my face with a small smile on his face. His tender look moved my heart and looking back into his eyes, all I saw was his concern and care. "Thanks, Fryster," I said sincerely. I felt grateful to him. Fryster's smile widened as he nodded and waved at me "You should quickly leave. Alpha already delayed you for an hour," He suggested, walking forward while I walked beside him. "You're right. I will be back soonest so you won't have to face his wrath for me," I joked and Fryster smiled. His eyes wandered to Joyce who was standing not far away from us and he immediately looked away as if he wasn't pleased

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 43: SHOPPING

REAH'S POV Staring at the countless papers on the ground, I felt a deep ache in my heart. I checked my time and realized it was only one hour to Lunch period which I was planning to use with Joyce but looking at the papers on the ground, I doubted I would be able to finish it in two hours even if I tried my total best. I looked at him, pondering what to do but then again, standing was wasting more time so I decided to get to it. I had taken the nutrients which in turn gave me the confidence that my child wouldn't be easily hurt. I started arranging the papers, picking them according to dates, relevance and categories. Some talked only about one product and needed to be placed together, some might be about hotels, which must be placed together. Like that, I arranged the papers as quickly as I could. Not long after, my phone started ringing and when I looked at the caller, I was surprised to see that it was an unknown number. I hesitated a bit but still decided to answer the call "H

  • CAGED IN HIS EMBRACE    CHAPTER 42: NUTRIENTS

REAH'S POV "Whatever, I have to keep working now. You should sit here and wait for me," I explained and at the same time decided that I would explain how werewolves worked to Joyce later so she wouldn't say anything that shouldn't be said around them, thinking they wouldn't hear. I guess she had no idea about their sharp ears. Joyce took my hand and smiled softly, I led her to the seat and without a word, she sat with her eyes fixed on Fryster who was busy working. I also walked to my seat and sat down. "Are you going out today again?" I asked him. Being Alpha Xavier's assistant meant that he would have a lot of work to do too. The fact that he was helping me even though he already had too much on his plate made me feel special...Fryster raised his head to look at me and held his chin as if he was deep in thought "Alpha Xavier has a meeting later in the evening around 5. He might want either of us to go with him," He explained and my eyes twitched. My heart started racing and I
