One year later - Diego’s POV - I looked around the mess I had created a while ago and cursed under my breath. Two dead bodies of deer were lying near me, which automatically made me sigh in annoyance. I got up and started walking towards my home. "Come on, buddy, it was my new shirt," I complained to Delcan, who was still silent as always.

"You promised you'd let my son study abroad. Why was it canceled? Why? Did you lie to me?" … Calista was on her way home when she heard the news about Diego. It was a bombshell. The guards walked behind us, and I am not sure where the extra guards came from; we were surrounded, and I knew it was the chief guard who summoned the backup. "You did not have to do this," Diego whispered to me as we got into the car. "Do not get too comfortable, Mr. Myers," I replied, giving him a serious expression that changed to a smile when Miguel looked at me. "Dad, are there animals in space?" Miguel asked Diego, who appeared perplexed.

“Do you mind if you tell me what is wrong?” I killed the fire that I was kindling on my index finger and proceeded to pull the Bermuda grass that I was sitting on, sighing in dismay. “Diego intruded on my training last night,” I started opening up. I looked up to see if she would react, but her expression remained calm. “He told me that he is waiting for me to come home in the habitat… and that he misses me.” “You must be missing him, too,” she added and tilted her head. “Don’t you?”

My brother and Gina pepper Diego with questions over lunch, and he answers everything with patience and genuine interest.
