“Really?” “Sure.” I grin. “Geo just adores his teacher, and I’m sure you’ll like him too.” “Him.” Diego huffs, his annoyance clear in his voice. “I’m a great teacher too. I could…” “No,” Geo says, stopping him. “I want to continue to train under sensei. I don’t need you to teach me.” Opening his mouth, Diego prepares to argue with Geo, but I shake my head, stopping him. “Since we are camping,” I announce, deciding to change the subject. “There are two things that we must do.”

Diego's smile faltered slightly under the intense gaze, while Javier watched, hoping this personal introduction would finally break the ice. Javier sighed deeply, trying to convey a sense of urgency and sincerity. "Mr. Lowes, there's something you might not know. Adriana's POV A fleet of black SUVs was also lined up in our compound, their engines idling. The scale of Diego's world, the depth of the danger we were in, hit me with realization. It wasn't a nightmare. Everything was real, horrifying even. Diego didn't hesitate. He guided me towards the lead SUV, another car I hadn't seen before. One of his men opened the back door. I slid in first, carefully positioning my son, and then Diego followed, laying our son securely on his lap.

Sarah said softly. Diego finally looked up, a fierce determination in his eyes. "She raised me after my parents died. Taught me everything I know about survival." He took a steadying breath. "I won't let her down." Sarah touched his arm gently. "We won't let her down. My contact will meet us in an hour." "Us?" Diego raised an eyebrow. "Me," Sarah corrected. "She said come alone, but after everything that's happened..." "No way are you going without backup," Diego finished firmly.

He killed the engine, breathing heavy. “We have to ditch the car. Now,” he snapped. “Shift and run.” I blinked at him. “Are you joking? Have you lost your alpha braincells?” He looked at me like I was a joke. “What?” “Do I need to tattoo it on your face? I. Can’t. Shift.” “Oh, for fuck’s sake,” he muttered, running a hand through his hair. Diego leaned forward. “Then where do we go? We can’t just camp here and wait for them to sniff us out.”
