I’m getting soft, he thought bitterly. Weak. He didn’t have time for weakness. Not now. Dominic had already flagged disturbing news this morning: There had been movement near the old Blake property. Vehicles. Strange visitors. Whispers on the streets. Someone was in stirring up the ashes of Amara’s escape — and it wouldn’t be long before those embers turned into wildfire. “Boss,” Dominic’s voice came over the private line, grim and clipped. “We traced one of the cars. Blake’s connected to old friends… not just locals. Out-of-town muscle.”

I say as I close the door and Scott drives off after warning me not to get into trouble. As we walk side by side towards Blake's car he intertwines our fingers and I swear my blood pressure rises instantly. My legs begin to get weak and wobbly and my heart is racing very fast. We stop right next to a Chevrolet Camaro IRoc-Z and I look at him with confusion clear in my face. "Is... This your car?" He nods. How many cars does he have? The I-Roc looks sleek as hell! "Wow! It looks good, very classic," I say.

Then, I fell victim. So, this was it? Blake is in the Mafia. How come I couldn't get a clue? He was so perfect. His looks. No tattoos, no gangs no nothing to give a clue. He is so smooth in all his dealings. "Don't be shocked, Bexley. You're not the only one fooled. Nobody can trace crime__" "Crime?". I stood up and walked right in front of him. "What do you mean by the word crime?". I glared at him, and he was doing the same.

Scott said. "Does that mean we're just going to let them get away with what they did to Blake?" Uriah asked. "Blake comes from a powerful background. I'm sure he can catch them," Scott said. "Alright, then. We'll just take Blake to the hospital for a checkup," Uriah conceded. "Well, don't just stand there! Help me!" Scott said. The two men hauled Blake into the back seat of his Maybach. Apart from a broken headlight, the Maybach was fully functioning.

"I'm Mia. A med student at Columbia. Mr. Ashford puts me through school, and... I've heard him mention you." My eyes were locked on her. "Is that so? Then why is his car's home address set to this place?" She suddenly realized what was going on, then self-consciously tugged at the hem of her dress. "A few days ago, I had terrible stomach pains and called Mr. Ashford's assistant. His car broke down, so he borrowed Mr. Ashford's to take me to the hospital." She pulled a hospital registration slip and call records. The evidence looked solid.

She couldn’t blame them; shiny cars were a rarity in their neighborhood. "You guys couldn't have been more discreet,” she said, amusement lacing her voice. “That’s never been our style,” Liam replied with a wink as he opened the back door for her. Meanwhile, Chadwick ambled to the front passenger seat, looking decidedly unimpressed. Ama climbed into the back, trying to maintain an air of nonchalance. It was her first time in a private car, and her heart raced with anticipation over what awaited her at the Blackwood mansion.

Just then a Navy blue Mercedes Benz pulls up in front of me, the engine roaring. I stand there, frozen in place staring at the slick looking car. The driver's window rolls down to reveal Raymond wearing a pair of black Aviators classic sun shades. He turns his head to me and I stare at him in awe. I notice his head dip and come back up, but I can't say for certain what he's staring at. "Get in the car Jasmine, you're late! Damon hates tardiness" I snap out of my daze, rushing to the other side of the car I pull the passengers door open and hop in, careful not to shut my leg as I pull the door closed behind me.

Because if he doesn't, I would get blamed for all of it. I stood on my feet and opened the drawer in search of my cell phone just to remember that it was in the car. I slipped into my slippers and rushed downstairs careful not to hit my swollen palm on anything. When I reached the first living room, I remembered the key. The car key. Oh shit. The car key. I rushed back upstairs and opened the door to the room. I rummaged through the nightstand looking for the key to the Lamborghini. Jeez, there are so many keys. How was I going to know the one which suits the car?

AVA Blake’s car was sleek, dark, and smooth as he drove it down the highway. The engine purred softly and even if I didn’t know shit about cars, I knew this one definitely cost an arm and a leg. My thoughts turned away from the car to the boy behind the wheel. He wore a black button-down shirt that hugged his shoulders and arms in all the right ways. His sleeves were rolled up just enough to show off his veins and strong arms. I didn’t miss the way heads turned when we pulled out of the driveway or how girls whispered as we stopped at a red light.

That morning seemed to be more revealing than expected because Selene wanted to find the answer to what had happened in a place where she wouldn't expect to find a coherent answer. Yes, she knew she was once again resorting to the dark stories of the town to solve the case, but it made sense to her. "Where are you taking me, Selene?" Blake asks Selene. They are both inside a car that the sheriff kindly loaned them. "It's time to discover what kind of beast is responsible for this!" Selene says as she drives the car.
