She got up from the bed, but before she could take another step, I grabbed her hand and pulled her back towards me.
“You have no idea how happy it makes me to know that you're not married to Peter,” I murmured against her lips a while later. “You don’t know how jealous I felt when Taylor said you were living together.”
My words had the desired effect, because soon Vivienne found herself laughing, a happy, carefree sound.
Like the woman herself.
“And I'm glad I took this job, cowboy,” She answered, straightening up and stroking my face one last time before heading out the door. “Oh, and Jacob? This changes everything between us, do you understand?”
