I take a couple of aspirins and go to the bathroom. Taking a deep breath and looking in the mirror, my eyes are swollen and red from crying, and my nose is bleeding. I have bruises from when Dean stuffed the sock in my mouth. My neck looks black and blue; I don’t recall him touching my neck. I have bruises on my arms and my breast, and there are little pools of blood from where he bit me. I have bruises between my thighs, and I’m still bleeding.

The booming bang of the gun startles all three wolves; the one on Gideon’s back lets out a loud howl and flops to the ground, blood blooms across his flank and he starts rolling around as if the dirt can extinguish the fire of pain lancing through him. “Phelan!” Dutton’s loud roar fills the air. I take my eyes off the rolling wolf as I lower my gun and turn to see Dutton pushing off the ground; he’s completely naked and he has claw marks all over his chest. He’s running for the wolf I just shot with panic in his eyes; his hands are shaking as he drops to the ground and starts applying pressure to the wound.

Abaddon exclaimed, trying to lift me. I cried out in pain, and he stopped. “St-Stitch,” I gasped. “You have to help Stitch.” “The dog,” a police officer noted. “He's not just a dog,” Abaddon roared. “Tell the police we need a doctor and a veterinarian immediately. And find whoever did this! I want their head!” My vision blurred, and I fought to stay conscious. “She's losing a lot of blood. There could be internal bleeding,” Abaddon told the officers.

Blood wells up and pours down Dad’s side. The wolf attempts to grab onto Dad by using its other paw, but Dad shakes it off. They turn to face each other once more. This time, the other wolf attacks. Dad steps to the side and swipes it with his claws. The wolf stumbles before regaining its footing. Dad’s fur is now matted with blood and turning an ugly reddish brown. As the two wolves exchange blows once more, I notice blood is slowly dripping from my dad. Drip. Drip. Drip.
