Out loud, I just nodded.
“Well,” I said calmly, “good luck with that.”
She gave me a tired smile.
“Thanks for the support.”
“Don’t get used to it.”
I slipped out before she could ask anything else.
Dirty Angels was already alive when I arrived.
Music thumped through the walls, lights pulsed across the crowd, and the usual collection of beautiful people had gathered to drink, flirt, and pretend the rest of the world didn’t exist.
The whole glamorous circus was out to play.
