My fingers scanned the spines of old, leather-bound books until I found it…the book of curses, bound with a strange red thread. I flipped through the dusty pages, eyes desperate, searching for something I might’ve missed. And then… there it was. “Marriage. A sacred bond. Only through union with the chosen bride under the law of the Lycan shall the cursed chains be broken.” My hand froze on the page. My heart pounded. Marriage? Of all the solutions… it had to be that? I didn’t wait another second. “Selene!” I bellowed, my voice shaking the tower. Within moments, she appeared in the doorway, her head bowed respectfully.

This is salvation, as well as punishment.” Leonardo shakes himself awake and out of his trance, wide eyes blinking at me. I only glare at the ball with growing distaste, as victory once again slips out of my grasp.

All of which led to Cade. “Despite his uncanny resemblance to Marius” she continued, a bored tone to her voice. “He is not of his line, however, we do have someone who is.” A slow, cruel, smile curved her blood red lips. Marius, I concluded, was the original vampire, Andromeda’s lover. At least now I had a name to tell Cade if I ever got out of here. She continued to walk further into the room, her eyes taking it in and she seemed satisfied.
