Chapter 2

Sylvia’s POV

Suddenly everyone's attention turns to me. Whispers were all I could hear.

"A Delavin I've never seen or even heard about her before."

''I thought Jacob, Diana, and Axel were the only heirs of the Delavin clan''

''Maybe a wannabe''

I ignored them for their nonsense behavior. All of the matters they stated failed to genuinely have an impact on me. I calmly walked proceeding towards the queue. All eyes were fixed on me while judging everything I do.

I know that my family is a well-known clan. The Delavins, wealthy, wise, and has the highest ranking of mana in centuries herein Alzeans.

I'm an outcast.

From my Papas beliefs being vulnerable because of a certain disease is not worthy to be even called a Delavin. That is the reason why he never includes me in any certain events publicly. He was ashamed that I'd tarnished the name of our clan. I begged for acceptance but all I received was pity. But even after all of that I never blamed him for treating me that way.

''Delavin "my professor called me out and looked at me from head to toe as if he's inspecting my entire existence. Then snapped his fingers to gather everyone's attention.

"Alzeans, the first mission that's been assigned for all of you is that everyone will be showing of your mana, what abilities you're capable of, and how you control it. If one of you didn't meet my expectations you're out, we will be watching all of you." he bluntly stated together along with his cold voice.

Our surroundings began to change as well as the time frame of our location. Our destination was a wooded secluded mountain with a nearby ocean.

"Your enemy is at the other side of this place, you will be playing a simple game. Listen carefully, you must acquire one of their possession which contains three hundred gemstones in their lair, and if you failed on completely attaining your task you are automatically out of this game. This will be a battlefield on using your mana, killing is certainly not allowed. And lastly, I have to warn all of you to not take this assignment lightly it wouldn't be as easy as it sounds."

"But there are seven hundred fifty-four folks in here, what do you mean about three hundred gemstones? are you saying that few will only pass?" a student questioned with confusion, unclear on what had been said.

''I meant every word I said Mr. Sean." The professor affirmed.

"It's just isn't fair is it, what if someone obtained the stone by chance but that specific person was, in fact, a puny." He utters with a sneer on his face.

The professor glared at him with annoyance in his eyes and shut his mouth using his mana.

"You can not easily possess the gemstones, weaklings doesn't have a chance now no longer even laying a finger to the stone due to the fact that gemstone will pick out its very own proprietor however in case you failed to get there on time whilst the sunrises, you are out."

"Enough chitchat let's begin" a redheaded girl declared.

"Hmm!" Sean murmuring inaudibly due to the fact he cannot speak.

(Hey don't leave me here, fix this!)

Everyone began running swiftly to find the location of the enemy's lair and to obtain the gemstones. Many of us here have the potential on finding the lair easy enough to track the destination of the gemstones by using their mana. But the only sufficient way for me is using chi. A skill that I've mastered, instinct and predictions for movements of your prey. And concentrating the person's gaze, the sound of breathing, smell, and their motions, a vague sense that they are there.

I don't want to waste my energy on using my mana it's barely the beginning. I commenced to stroll and perceive my environment but as I looked around this region jogged my memory of the woodland in my dream. I felt a sudden headache that caused me to vaguely recall my memories. I started to follow a path leading to somewhere unconsciously luring me in and but stopped once I nearly fell close to the cliff and below it was a deep ocean, coming back to my senses. When I felt the bizarre air of mystery behind me a familiar one it seems that It was the aura that I've encountered in advance withinside the academy. I closed my eyes to concentrate to feel his every motion.

His movements were like the velocity of lightning, going faster and faster for each second. He's now where near me but I can feel his presence had abruptly been in front of me, I was shocked, I opened my eyes and found him staring at me. His gold eyes that snatch my attention, resulted me to fail on attacking him. He then grasped my waist with force while sniffing the fragrance of my neck, I punched him in his face that caught him off-guard, and led him to free me from his grasp. Why are there perverted guys in here, is he my opponent? confused about what was happening. I don't have a choice but to use my mana ahead of time, he's strong I know that for sure.

I began to release my mana considering him as an enemy. Elemental control is the ability my body possesses. Both my palms are blazing with fire and the earth ground shaking tremendously. Which caused rocks to fall from the cliff to the ocean.

"That's unexpected," he said while examining his hands covered with blood, He then looked in my direction pissed. I don't know what caused his behavior to change drastically.

"Who are you?" I asked

"I don't see how that's any of your damn business," he said with a mischievous smile marked on his face while his jaw clenched.

"Your mana, why can't I nullify it?" he began circling my position.

"I don't see how that's any of your damn business." I answered back at him spitefully. He began looking at me dead in the eyes and I did the same thing.

I'm slowly being aggravated by his presence, my blazing fire began to triple its size. This takes place whenever I'm being carried away by my emotions. I attacked him to get him out of my way and to get rid of him as soon as possible, the time's running out. I have to hurry and get the gemstone.

He was pushed by the force of my mana but by that simple attack it damaged his entire body, all parts of it were severely injured. He seemed helpless but I have to keep my guards up for any possible counterattack. I don't want to underestimate him, his mana is power nullification that cancels someone's mana through touch but unexpectedly didn't apply to me. And the fact that he has a speed that's unbelievable.

He started to stand up and I notice his wounds were slowly healing!

"I know you desperately need to find the lair don't you," he said smirking walking towards my direction. He gently held my chin making me look into his eyes. I don't know why I'm letting him do this to me it's like I'm wrapped around his fingers.

"And your scent it's disgusting" he whispered behind me.

"I took a bath, where's the lair tell me or else." I answered defending myself, offended by what he said.

"Or else what?" he let out a small laugh about what I said. He can sense the sincerity of my words and backed up from my position intimidated by my appearance.

I'm getting simply irritated, it is nearly dawn, he's really pissing me now. The wind started to blow horridly I can feel my blood boiling from furiousness thinking of how I should kill him in a certain way.

I can't have anyone ruin my goals and my reputation as a Delavin. I am a Delavin!

I walked towards him and grabbed his neck choking him. In my head, I just want him dead. My grip started to get tighter I can feel him gulping. He then suddenly disappeared from my clasp.

"The lair is at the biggest tree inside there you can find the gemstone." He whispered behind me while laughing and I began to regain consciousness through reality. Who even is he and why the hell is he here is he even my enemy? it's driving me nuts. I ran but I could still feel his gaze behind me my stamina isn't holding it for long and went to the location he told me to go to.

But when I was about to go the surface that I'm standing on collapsed. It was too quick for me to even react and to use my mana. But everything felt slow as I began to fall into the ocean. Deja vu was the first thing I perceive. I want to resurface but I can't move a single muscle. I began to slowly suffocate and struggle, causing me to gradually faint. But I started to notice that someone was lifting me up.

*Gasped

I began coughing and spitting consumed water. That guy who attacked me was in fact the one that saved me. He left something before even leaving it's a stone that's induced with mana containing the location of the sacred tree.

The game isn't over yet.

When I arrived, I hid when I saw five persons monitoring the lair none had entered nor found the lair except for me, I have to find something that can avert their gaze just for a second to go inside without having to fight them.

I used all of the mana that I have left to make an illusion. An illusion that can let them think that it's an enemy.

I used my mana to mold figures that looked like the students in this mission. It's going to be tough, I need to make them believe that they're real. Even the illusion should contain mana, every part must be detailed. When I tried doing that technique, It worked, it bought me time to enter the tree till they realizes that it was just an illusion.

I turned around and saw scowls on their faces. But as I went inside I saw hundreds of gemstones floating and glimmering but my eyes were set into a sapphire gemstone. It captivated me and as I got closer to it. I felt like evolving, the sapphire began to glow intensely. I really felt like something changed.

POWER.
