She smiled. Margo sat open mouthed as she listened to Magdalena and Bernard talk. They discussed death as if it was nothing. She quickly scribbled everything down and leaned back in her chair and sighed. She was thankful that Spencer and his people would be lending a hand to help them take him out once and for all. She frowned as she listened to them talk. Her hands trembled violently as she destroyed her birthright. The paste—a foul mixture of river mud, crushed walnut shells, and soot—felt cold and slimy against her scalp. Outside, the sky was bleeding. The Dragon Kingdom of Aethelgard, a realm of glass spires and singing winds, was dying. It wasn't dying quietly. It was screaming under the iron treads of the Empire’s war machines.

Only Vertimon has books about dragons and from what she understood, he had gotten them from the old Demon king’s castle, the one her father had ruined while trying to save her mother from his brother, her uncle. There was no news or stories about the dragons except in the books and it was what made everyone believed them to be myth. Neither the wolves or vampires has ever heard about the dragons and she only got to know about them because growing up, she loved spending her time in Vertimon waters and so chanced upon the books. Even Vertimon himself had admitted not believing them to be real but since it was a book from the old demon king castle, maybe it was true, or maybe they are myth. And

This book says the same thing that Cayd read before, except instead of Falknor, it says Feilong. “What is Feilong?” I ask. “Another dragon clan,” Buppig says, distractedly as he looks over Lily’s shoulder. “And Ddraig?” Lily asks, looking at Buppig. He looks at the book, then Lily, then me and Cayd. “These are the four dragon clans, two for men, two for women. All of them say the same thing,” he says, his eyes going wide. He looks on our table until he finds the Book of Prophecies and he opens it to the first prophecy about me.

Now that I knew it wasn’t just a story he created in his head, I noticed more details. The first book didn’t have a female lead in the book like the others did. It told the story of his origins. About how he grew up and before he became the Dragon King. The story also talked about how there was a Legend about the Keeper of the Dragon Stone, which I paid extra attention to. All Dragons are told about the Keeper of the Dragon Stone, as it is the duty of a Dragon to keep the Stone protected. The Dragon Stone holds the entire fate of the Dragons. Should the Keeper of the Dragon Stone die, it would cause all Dragons to die.
