I jumped out of the car and ran into the driveway, hoping I could reach the trees and hide before anyone could catch me. I took three quick steps toward the lawn. Then I crashed into something hard. A strong chest stopped me so suddenly that all the air left my lungs. “Ah!” I gasped, stumbling backward in shock. I slowly raised my head. My eyes slowly traveled from the man’s chest to his face.
