Falling For My Ex’s Brother-In-Law
I shot forward, tyres smoking, lungs burning, and then…
Silence.
The sirens cut off.
I glanced in the rearview mirror.
The train filled the road behind me, an unstoppable wall of steel. The police cars were trapped on the other side, helpless, boxed in by the very thing meant to stop idiots like me.
A laugh ripped out of my chest, wild and unrestrained.
“Yes!” I shouted, slamming my palm against the steering wheel. “Yes!”
My heart hammered, adrenaline surging so hard my hands shook. I drove on, slower now but still fast, letting the distance grow. The train would pass eventually but by then, I’d be gone.
