Suddenly, I felt strange. This isn’t the normal way Brock looks at me because the way he looks at me now makes me want to punch him right in the nose.

"You'll see why." They entered the game room, and Scott locked the door behind them. He pressed a button on the back of the TV cabinet, and Alexia watched as the panel slid aside to reveal a narrow, dark passageway. "You do have a dungeon! I knew it!" Alexia exclaimed. "Even better." Scott went in first, and small motion-sensor lights lit up as they walked. They went down a spiral staircase—maybe six meters deep—and Alexia was stunned by the soft blue light glowing from the middle of what looked like… a cave?

My fingers curled into fists. “We’re running out of time.” Draven nodded once. “We need to get inside before sunrise.” Darius scanned the walls carefully. “There’s a drainage tunnel under the east side of the compound,” he said. “Used to connect to the old dungeons.” Draven looked at him. “You’re sure?” “Pretty sure.” “That’s not reassuring.” Darius smirked slightly. “When has anything about tonight been reassuring?” I looked back at the packhouse, the towering walls, the guards pacing along the battlements, and the wooden platform rising slowly in the center of the courtyard.

Not quite a question. "The dungeon has a probability anchor point below chamber six," Kael said. "Hale identified it from compass behavior during the sweep, the floor movement was a field response, and the dungeon reacted to protect me the same way the ceiling, the library shelf, and the gravel at the duel had reacted. The same pattern, larger scale." Lyra opened her book without looking at the page. "The anchor point is below a collapsed chamber," she said. "Yes," Kael said. "And you are going back," she said.

Childhood, or…?’ He was still breathing heavily, pulling away from me like a stubborn child dodging his father’s presence.
