We got outside, the air was chilly and it cooled my temper. “There’s no sign of your father though, that’s a good sigh.” “Yeah I guess.” But my mind was still wrapped around Pixie. “ALPHAS, BETAS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!” A loud voice boomed from inside. I looked at Jared who then looked at me. I knew the voice very much belonged to Dwight and I wondered what he might have wanted to say so much we stalked back into the main- room. Dwight stood on the podium at the end of the room, a microphone in his hand. All the guests pushed back, walking to gather close so they could get a better look at him as he spoke.

Dwight talked to his friend on the phone for a few more moments, then ended it with a big smile. "Dwight, can I ask you a question?" I asked cautiously. "Of course, Loreine," Dwight said. "Was the friend who called you earlier, someone named Jared Reiner?" I asked again. "Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop on your conversation." Dwight's face lit up. "Yes. He's a businessman and I think he's pretty well-known around here. He and I were childhood friends and went to junior high school together, before I moved to Canada."

He struggled following Dwight as she was not given with long legs, unlike him. “Okay. I got it,” Dwight said. After a little while, Dwight arrived in front of the mahogany door. He drew a smile on his face before he opened the door. “Good day!” Dwight greeted. Along with Lawrence Lozano, the eight familiar men in suits looked at Dwight. ‘Oh? These guys!’ Dwight gasped inwardly but he kept his expression calm. “My name is Dwight Cadieux. I am the owner of this restaurant. When I heard that Mr. Lozano is here, I was so excited to come and not miss the god-given opportunity to see him,” he introduced, smiling at Lawrence.

Dwight emerged from his room, accepting the black coat Carey, his bodyguard, handed him. He draped it over his shoulders and walked out. Dust danced in the air, mixed with the scents of petrol and gunpowder. Dwight nodded at passing soldiers who saluted him. The camp was similar to many others he’d visited, with one crucial difference. In this place lurked a ‘tiger’ with no morals, a man who forgot about citizens’ welfare, colluding with the enemy and secretly trafficking drugs and weapons.

One of the jocks replied as the other nodded his head. Dwight flinched hearing the word, Welcome party, it brought emotions that he didn’t want to feel, especially irritation and anger. Adrian saw the quick reflexes and noted it but he kept quiet. Oh sorry, man. I just got a lot of things on my, mind, you know with the final year stuffs, plus the tests and lectures and now, the prank wars. I totally forgot that I was a football player. What did the coach say my fine was? Dwight asked.

, he said. Dwight felt his eyes becoming teary and he cleaned his eyes. He pulled away and sat on the bed. Austin sitting beside him. “What are you looking at?” Dwight asked and took the picture from his hand. It was a picture of the four of them; Dwight, Tory, Amanda and Austin. The picture was taken on the twins’ three years birthday. Dwight squeezed his eyes shut and dropped the picture. “How are you?” he managed to ask. “I miss mummy and Amanda.”

The next morning, in the mansion of the Crofts, Dwight sat on the couch sipping slowly on his tea but one could see the eye bags on his face. He was trying very hard to concentrate on the tea and his phone. But the way his eyes darted to the door several times in the past few seconds showed that he was impatiently waiting for someone to walk in through the door. A few minutes later, Mrs. Crofts came down the stairs, when she saw Dwight sipping on the tea, it seemed to have irritated her and so, she shouted,
