Savoring a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and carrots, Gracie prepares to let Gunner strut along the beach some more.
Gracie sees some old friends playing volleyball. They invite her to join. “Gunner stay,” she says firmly. Joining the game, Gracie stands wide, nearly squatting, bracing herself, then repositions. Her feet are lined up, her arm swings back, and her fist hits the ball. The white lined volleyball flies over the net. As the ball comes back towards her, she smacks it, soaring it over the net.
