When Carl called, my swollen eyes flicked to the time—almost eleven. The phone buzzed in my hand, fresh tears splashing onto the screen. Three calls. I didn't pick up. Surprisingly, the fourth was from Mia. I was about to shut off my phone when Carl's message popped up: [Stop messing around. I'm not coming back tonight. Stay safe. Your condition isn't serious, right?] A bitter laugh slipped out. I replied: [Not serious at all. Have fun. I'm going to sleep.]

But for Alex, he automatically knew who it was as he immediately recognized his white hoodie that got splattered with paint in the colors of the rainbow. He scrolled up and as the caption, he simply had a blue heart emoji. "Blue."

“Good aft—” “Just go” I yelled, a crack in a voice before i met the driver’s stoic eyes through the rear view mirror and i stared at the large tattoo across his neck and face that resembled a serpent in some fire. I stared long enough till the door barged open and i froze.

I hear a little tap, and then a click, and as the car vibrates, I put together that he put on a CD. Chromatic's Touch Red plays. The familiar piece fills the car, the almost-haunting instrumentals bouncing off the windows and into my ears. "When you can't see, first, you listen." Alex leans over and whispers. I sit, lips parted, taking in the way the vibrations make the hair on my skin stand. "It was the day you pushed past the front doors, trekked up over twenty steps into my office," he spoke. The stereo still plays, and so I lean into his voice as best as I can.

Yet James didn't let him go. He glances over to Jack, he takes a step forward. Disappearing into a bolt of lightning and reappearing in front of Jack. Jack's head flies off, and his body drops to his knees. A green screen appears before James reading. You've leveled up.

I almost didn’t notice him, he was standing off to the side so quiet and still he almost seemed invisible, but those eyes! 'He’s a visum?!' Valeria shrieks in my head. Val has never seen a visum before, but I told her they can easily be identified by their eyes. Eyes of electric purple with a ring of electric blue around that. They’re so intense it almost looks like the colour is moving. All I can do is nod in response to her question.

She leaned towards one of the screens which poured light all over her masked face. The screen displayed what appeared to be a map. A map of the globe with tiny red markers set all over it and four markers appeared to stand out from the rest. One was set at Sydney, the second at Hong Kong, the third at New York and the last one at Atlanta. The woman then raised a hand and stroked what appeared to be a pair of goggles just below the screen before placing a gloved finger over one of the markers on the screen...New York.

“When I asked what you guys do for fun around here, this is not at all what I expected.” “But it’s like ten times better right?” Veronica says standing in front of the mirror and analyzing her raven colored outfit. She had come to my room to get ready since both our rooms were right beside each other. “So what’s the plan exactly?” I slip on my black fitted long-sleeved gown which reaches mid-thigh. “Well, as you know there are seven floors. We’re on the third, and Rhea’s on the second. The guys are also on the second.” She chooses to make her hair a little wavy at the ends while I straighten mine.
