Nyla said quietly, adjusting Josh on her hip as she approached me.
I blinked. "Home?"
She nodded. "Yeah. I think... he needs his space. Familiar smells. His bed. His toys. I’m scared, Em, but... I think we’ll both breathe better there."
I didn’t know what to say. I understood it. Still, the house had felt less haunted since she came. Less lonely. And now she was leaving.
Just then, Eddy walked into the room. His shirt was slightly wrinkled from sleep, and he was running his fingers through his hair. But his eyes were alert the moment he heard Nyla’s words.
