Every bit of love I had been too afraid to admit until it was almost too late. Then the world roared. A shockwave burst from the circle, knocking me backward. I hit the ground hard, dirt and energy scattering in all directions. When I looked up, Edward’s body was levitating, hovering a few inches off the ground. The light beneath him had turned crimson, and tendrils of smoke rose from his skin as the bond markings flared along his throat. He was fighting. But against what, I couldn’t tell.
