It caught the light from the hallway, sparkling with a cruel, expensive fire. Vespera stared at it. It wasn't hers. She didn't own diamonds. Her wedding ring was a plain band because Lysander said jewelry was a "frivolous expense." She knew this earring. She had seen it swinging from a lobe just ten minutes ago. Elara.

Progress? Before they left, Elias pressed a smaller package into my hands. Inside, a small metal disk burnished smooth and engraved with Emberbound sigils. The Circle crest on one side. I commented, taking a seat on the only chair, breathing in the peace that surrounded me now. The first book on top of the pile had it’s name carved on the leather cover, painted with gold and designed with small gems that shines when the light hits them. At first, I found it hard to read the letter but the more I stare at them, the more I seem to get it. It reads, “The Helsings: Protector of the Kingdom of Doria…” I opened the book, and oh, it was empty. Empty. Like really empty! Confused, I began flipping the pages only to find nothing but an empty pages, a thick empty book.

There was a pause, as he raised his left hand, where the ring with the magical red gem, was worn around his middle finger, as always, in the direction of the dragon. "...and to kill at will." There was a low growl from the dragon at that moment. Belladonna's gaze snapped to the beast, their gaze locked again, till the glowing reptilian eyes of the dragon disappeared slowly into the darkness of the dungeon it was in, the sound of the rattling chains becoming distant, the deeper the beast went. Belladonna frowned. Something wasn't right. "Eli." "My Queen," his response was immediate. A smile played on her lips instinctively.

“That was short and sweet.” “As was mine,” I grumbled. She shuddered. “I forgot that they faked your death. It’s a bit creepy to think that there’s a headstone out there with your name on it.” “I wonder if it says Esmerelda Sleuth or Esmerelda Northrup,” I mused. “We’ll have to check,” she said. “Unless you want to ask him really quickly.” I shook my head. “I can’t waste the magic.
