These individuals were the Barbarian Elders. Barbarian Elders were barbarians who were considered High Born. As such, the position of Elder remained within that family for as long as that family was alive. So as long as there were descendants, that family would be part of the Elders’ Circle. And that explained why some Elders were old and others young. For the young ones, they were the most qualified of their generation.
