he shrieked. The ground buckled. All across the courtyard, the bodies of the fallen,both Blackwood and Devonshire,began to twitch. Their eyes snapped open, glowing with the same necrotic green fire. They weren't wolves or men anymore; they were Draugr, puppets of Asmodeus’s stolen magic. The battlefield dissolved into chaos. The remaining Devonshire wolves, terrified of their own resurrected brothers, broke rank, only to be dragged down and bitten by the undead. Killian and Julian fought back-to-back, their teeth and magic tearing through flesh that didn't feel pain.

The battle was about to begin. From the shadows, they emerged – creatures born of nightmare, twisted parodies of nature itself. They were grotesque, their bodies a horrifying fusion of flesh and shadow, their movements jerky and unnatural. Some were vaguely humanoid, their limbs elongated and twisted, their skin a sickly, pallid green. Others were more monstrous, hulking behemoths with razor-sharp claws and teeth that dripped with a viscous, black ichor. They were the remnants of the ancient entity’s corruption, its failed creations, driven by a mindless rage and a thirst for destruction.

A pair of beady compound eyes gleamed menacingly over a dripping, lamprey shaped razer maw that hissed in mockery, its high pitched hiss rising to a high pitch. More monstrosities behind it were emerging from their grott disguised in vegetation, hideously altered titan things that combined boney scything protrusions with tangles of corded musk to create distinct, eldritch composite abhorrations. Much too many for the hunting group of our pack to defeat with sheer force.

A ghostly howl rang out to the south heralding the monsters’ appearance. Inky black bodies stepped forth into the glade. Their smooth scales glimmered in the moon glow, bodies serpentine and muscular, with prowling paws tipped in razor black claws. Black bat wings hugged their flanks as they churned around us, three animals that I recognized. David had warned me about these monsters, these other shifters. The burning smell sizzled off of their skin, their teeth bared and predatory yellow-orange eyes flashing: these were dragons and they were deep in the heart of Dalesbloom where they shouldn’t be. Whoever howled out there knew the dragons were here.

After passing a few more dead bodies, I finally spotted the creature. A drider. I've only seen something like this twice in my life. They had similar qualities as us, vampires. They drank blood and were sensitive to lights. The only difference is that they could do more magic and was absolutely hideous. But the ones I've seen were not as terrifying as this one.
