“Is it those reports again?” he asks after a moment, his tone cautious, eyes studying her face. “The ones the paparazzi wrote?”
Eleanor’s gaze flickers. The word paparazzi alone makes her flinch. Those nights flash before her eyes—the camera flashes, the shouting voices, the endless rumors that painted her life into something monstrous. Her voice is small when it finally emerges. “They haven’t found this place yet,” she whispers, her hands clenching together in her lap. “Not yet.”
