Brayden’s voice trembled as he asked, every word laced with desperation. Vernon didn’t flinch. His gaze remained unyielding, his voice as cold as steel. “You want to save him, Brayden?” he said slowly. “Then give up your life for him. That’s the price.” Brayden’s stomach churned at the thought, but he didn’t hesitate. His hand dropped the pistol, the weapon clattering to the floor with a heavy thud. His fingers trembled as he unstrapped his belt and dropped all his weapons onto the ground, kicking them away from him in a gesture of complete surrender.

Only the triad. Only surrender.

I spat, wishing I could shoot daggers through my eyes. “You've always been, since that fire. I fucking own you now, do you hear me? You're a threat to me. Trying to get me arrested that day was the biggest mistake you've ever made. You could've stayed in hiding, making sure I never knew you survived. Now look at you, hopeless on my bed, at my mercy–” “Fuck you.” I said with ragged breath. He had no morals and conscience! I needed to let off this steam before I exploded.

And just like that, the world tilted. The time for silence was over. Tomorrow, I would tell the truth. But today… today, the storm had come to my doorstep. Oh, fucking hell.

The freeze releasing its grip day by day. Tomorrow, they would surrender to a warlord. But surrender wasn't ending. It was just a different kind of beginning.

For a moment, I stilled, letting my body go limp. Let him think I’d surrendered. “Please put me down,” I whispered. “I promise I won’t run.”

But I couldn’t say the safe word. WHACK! WHACK! “One, two!” I cried once more. Remembering I had to start again if I stuffed up the counting. He nodded. He placed the leather item on the table. He removed the lead and collar. He took in my body. My face. His face was also somber. Like he really didn’t want to do what he just did. He took out a now visible ear peace. “It’s over Anna. I’m sorry”. What was over. Us. Was it because I cried. What was over.

I screamed at a group of men. "Fuck. Tracy . Are you mad?" They turned towards us with their guns. He was forced to put me down. "You should've ran while you had the chance Ethan."I reminded before lifting my hands up in surrender. "I'll save talk the stress of tearing down this place, killing all these people. I'm the one you're after. My name is Tracy Scott . I'm about to bring a lot of honor to every last one of you. I know what your boss wants, I know how to give it to him, and I'm more than willing to surrender peacefully.”
