Elizabeth floated in a space that wasn’t space. No sky, no ground. Just light. Just warmth and nd her. The woman of stars stood before her, cloaked in constellations, her voice like snow falling on fire. “You have inherited more than power, Elizabeth Stormborn. The Flame Queen reborn.”

Elena looked at her. “Then tell me now.” Maria slowly walked toward Elena. “When you were born, your father discovered that you had the same blood marker as the founder of the original Black Rose.” Elena stared at her. “A blood marker?” “Yes.” “What does that mean?” “It means they believed you were the heir.” Adrian shook his head. “This is ridiculous.” Maria looked at him. “You think the Black Rose cares about what is ridiculous?” Adrian stepped closer. “You expect me to believe that my wife is some kind of heir to a criminal organization?”
