You cannot go back to your old normal life." Claire looked into Julian’s eyes. She could see darkness, pain, but also unwavering determination. She realized that the man in front of her was a shadow ruler capable of shaking a country’s economy with a single command. Fear briefly crept into her heart, but something else emerged stronger. Claire did not back away. Instead, she reached for Julian’s hand and gripped it tightly. Her small hand felt starkly different from Julian’s large, scarred one, but her hold was firm.

“You’ll never be whole!” Emily’s tears streamed hot, but her voice didn’t waver this time. “Maybe I won’t ever be whole,” she shouted, light blazing from every pore. “But I’ll never belong to you again!” The blast ripped through the void, tearing the shadow apart in a storm of smoke and light. For a heartbeat, silence. Then Emily dropped to her knees, trembling, chest heaving, the light flickering softer now. The shadow wasn’t gone. She could feel it, faint, lurking in the cracks.

Lucky there’s nothing deep needing stitches. In my grieving and broken state, I begin to feel faint. I let myself go and pass out. Opening my eyes I feel myself transported into another realm. Standing in front of me is my grandmother’s house which stands in front of a looming property which I dare not go near. The “LeFleur” mansion. A place said to belong to my ancestors from centuries ago. A place that continues to haunt my dreams since a child. Something about this place calls to my soul, it pulls me and begs me to return. The house stands in the Normandy countryside. She feels it in the wind and air, she feels it in the depths of the earth, it’s as if a spirit like a piece of me is locke

One name. Emilia. Hold on, my love, I’m coming. I’m coming. Just hold on. The shadow of Hollow Mountain rose ahead of me like a sleeping beast, black against the starless sky. The air grew thick, heavy with old death and older curses. I didn’t care. I bared my teeth at the darkness and charged straight into its mouth. Emilia was in there. And nothing—not poison, not bullets, not ghosts, not hell itself—was going to stop me from bringing her home.

Just then, Emiliano came to sit beside me. “You okay?” he asked. I nodded. My mind was still with the shadow. “Here, have this,” he handed me a burger and soft drink to me. I put Phoenix down beside me. We soon reached home. As we entered the house, my mind still lingered on the earlier shadow. Was someone out to get me? Why am I even scared? People have shadows. But what bugged me most was the attention Phoenix gave to the particular shadow. “Are you sure you are fine, Ginevra?” Emiliano asked as I headed toward the staircase without a word. I turned back to him.

Its voice pressed into their skulls: “Bonded… Perfect… F i n a l…” Emily’s breath broke entirely. Adrian felt her slipping. No— NO— She wasn’t slipping— she was being taken. He screamed her name— And the First Shadow’s other hand rose slowly……aimed for his heart.

I cry, fed up with this nightly repetition, but no sound emerges. A noise can be heard from the back of the house. One of the shadows turns toward it. I jump down to follow only to have the other shadow hold me back. “Don’t go. Not yet. Listen to me!” I beg the shadow moving away from me. The scene continues before my eyes. Evil starts to permit the air. The scent of it clogs my lungs and stops me from fighting for release. I try and pin point the direction it is coming from. I watch the shadow I had been trying to stop turn back to look at me. A loud bang rang out into the area. I felt pain as if was my own as I watch the shadow fall. The other letting go of me runs to catch the other. The

Emiliano drove the car back to the mansion. On the way to home Shadow was looking behind again and again because he wanted to be with Vanessa but Alejandro was not letting him go. When he was turning behind again and again his hair was brushing against Emiliano's shoulder annoying him. "Stay still you God damn dog. She is our wife stop asking for her attention." Emiliano said annoyingly which and Canada frown. "W-w-why are you scolding him? He is my b-baby." she said to him which made Emiliano more annoyed.

A minute of waiting passes before Lucas continues. Emily's breaths caught in her throat as she look up. The shadow is right by her side but it didn't harm her. It is as if it is following them, leading them out of the house. The shadow is trying to tell her something or show her somewhere. " Lucas, follow the shadow", Emily utters. Lucas did not even doubt her , he cautiously follows the shadow as it leads them through the haunted house. When they reach a black door, the shadow stops. The shadow shifts as it takes the form of a human.
