“Let them. We’re ending this tonight.” The old church loomed in the moonlight, its silhouette stark against the night sky. Sophie and Alex crept towards it, the weight of the journal heavy in Sophie’s bag. The air was thick with tension, every shadow seeming to hide a threat. They pushed open the creaking doors, the sound echoing in the empty space. The interior was dark, illuminated only by the faint moonlight streaming through the stained glass windows. Dust motes danced in the air, and the smell of damp wood filled Sophie’s nose.

The shadows divided, splitting into multiple figures—each one an exact copy of us. “What the—” Esmeralda gasped, her eyes wide as she glanced over her shoulder. “They’re multiplying!” The shadows now mimicked our every move. They spoke, too—repeating our conversations in distorted, mocking tones. “They’re... mimicking us,” I said weakly, trying to keep my legs moving. “Every step we take...” One of the shadows—Zara’s shadow—laughed, an eerie, high-pitched echo of her own voice. “Come on... Come on... We can’t slow down...”

she asked, and Alex gave a soft laugh. She sensed humour from him, and annoyance from Lukas, but both were almost drowned out by their wariness, and no small amount of fear. Lukas sighed softly, "Shadows can merge with other shadows, becoming part of them," he said, his voice still near a whisper, "And can move through them, from one to another, with little resistance."

I cry, fed up with this nightly repetition, but no sound emerges. A noise can be heard from the back of the house. One of the shadows turns toward it. I jump down to follow only to have the other shadow hold me back. “Don’t go. Not yet. Listen to me!” I beg the shadow moving away from me. The scene continues before my eyes. Evil starts to permit the air. The scent of it clogs my lungs and stops me from fighting for release. I try and pin point the direction it is coming from. I watch the shadow I had been trying to stop turn back to look at me. A loud bang rang out into the area. I felt pain as if was my own as I watch the shadow fall. The other letting go of me runs to catch the other. The

Because she wasn’t looking at him. She was looking at the shadow. And for the first time— There was no confusion in her eyes. No fear. Only recognition. “You left me there.” Her voice came out… different. Layered. Echoing. Not just hers. The shadow didn’t deny it. “Because you weren’t ready.” A long pause. Heavy. “And now?” Emily asked quietly. The shadow stepped closer. Close enough that the darkness brushed against her skin. Cold. Familiar. “Now…” A whisper.

Emiliano drove the car back to the mansion. On the way to home Shadow was looking behind again and again because he wanted to be with Vanessa but Alejandro was not letting him go. When he was turning behind again and again his hair was brushing against Emiliano's shoulder annoying him. "Stay still you God damn dog. She is our wife stop asking for her attention." Emiliano said annoyingly which and Canada frown. "W-w-why are you scolding him? He is my b-baby." she said to him which made Emiliano more annoyed.

Emilio says, cutting into my thoughts. “But why?” My heart pounds against my chest. “The Don warned him not to come near you; otherwise, he would be killed,” Emilio says, his gaze on me. I swallow. “And yet he’s here.” “Yes,” Emilio replies. “He says he has some things to get off his chest.” Before I can say anything, there’s a knock on the door. I know it’s the man from the shadows. “If you don’t want to see him, I can end this now,” he says as he walks toward the door.

El comments as she walks toward us. Emilio looks around at our surroundings. Not a single soul is on the streets. This isn't surprising, as it's easily 1AM by now. "Ladies first," Emilio urges us. A sense of duty or protection settles in him as he moves behind us like a shield, peeking over his shoulder as we move. It's like a scene from a horror film. The streets are dark, with one or two semi-working street lamps that are flickering on and off. The yards are unkept, along with the houses and buildings themselves.
