Ember was forgotten as he faced me, his entire focus now on me. I didn't look to see if she was okay. I had to focus. He striked again and I easily blocked it, meeting his blow with my own. But he was strong and my strength was leaving me. I blocked his blow as he aimed for my neck, the tip of the sword coming too close for my liking. I braced for his attack, expecting it on my right, but he struck left. A scream tore from my throat as his sword pierced my chest, slicing through my armor, missing my heart by a hair's breadth.

"Indeed, I'm still dreaming. You're a heartless woman. How could you possibly come back to me on your own?" Emma got up and went to the living room. She then came back with a fruit knife in her hand. She quietly swung the knife and stabbed Ron's arm. She used some force. The cut was deep, causing fresh blood to flow out from the wound. Ron felt the pain. He was strangely excited as he looked at the blood flowing out from his body. "Emma? Are you really my Emma? Is it really you?" Compared to his excitement, Emma remained as composed as an emotionless robot. "If you still don't believe me, I don't mind stabbing you again."

“I'm somehow sorry for loss Emma. So let be quick because someone is going to get hurt if you don't hand over yourself to me as my wife.” He said, grabbing Emma briskly and holding a dagger to her neck. Everyone screamed, seeing what Ryan just did. Caleb dashed towards them, anger visibly written all over his face. “Cool it lover boy.”Ryan said, pushing the dagger to her skin. “I know i was wounded with a silver sword. I prepared a silver dagger just incase something go wrong.” Caleb paused immediately. A silver dagger will kill Emma. Luna Mitchell and every other person became tensed immediately.

Slowly, she rose from the bed and stumbled to the small table in the room, her hand stretched to the basket of fruits, and instead of grabbing a fruit, she picked up the knife. The blade shone under the light and reflected on Emma’s eyes, she closed her eyes for a moment and then opened them with a determined face. She tilted her head towards Henry who was still sleeping peacefully, slowly, she walked to his bed and held the knife high. She started to twist the knife in her hand, still pondering the decision in her mind, and then after a moment of thinking, her hand’s movements stopped and she aimed the knife at Henry. BOOM Is Emma going to kill Henry?

The clock chimed. At the last toll, the embers collapsed, and the grate was cold. Isabelle lifted the serpent key—a replica of the latch’s eye and slipped it into the sketchbook’s spine. With a hushed click, the book’s cover sprung forward, revealing a shallow cavity. Inside lay a folded parchment sealed with crimson wax: the Ember Circle’s original charter—and a second, smaller key of burnished silver.

She pushed the door to open further before stepping into the room. Emma was sleeping so soundly that it annoyed Michelle. How she can be so peaceful, Michelle wondered. She crept towards the bed. Michelle froze when Emma moved. She turned to sleep on her back but she was still asleep. This position was even better for Michelle. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the blade. She sat on the bed and raised her hand before lowering the blade to bury it deep inside Emma’s chest.

Emma gasped around the blade, eyes wide in shock. Blood gushed from between her fingers as she held the knife’s hilt. The wound would be fatal. Already, blood was pooling in a growing pool at her feet. But then, as though to expedite the process, she gripped the knife’s hilt between her trembling fists. Now, it was my turn for my eyes to widen. She pulled the blade until it was free and tossed it to the side, discarded. The wound began to weep even faster now. She would bleed out in seconds now. It was her final act of defiance.

I ran the blade across her arm twice more, not pressing the blade too deep, and the wounds started to heal seconds later, the first man I had killed had pressed the blade in deep making it hard for me to heal.
