Sweets are good for keeping people happy. I think you need a lot of them to straighten those creases on your forehead that even Botox couldn’t solve,” she said before taking a huge bite of cupcake.

I grumbled, still keeping our hug. Emilia smiled lightly. "I know how to make it on the cake. You wouldn't even notice until you ate.” I widened my eyes. There were so many times that Emilia's mother had sent me baked desserts "including cakes" that I couldn't even tell me anymore. I began to rethink if at some point I noticed any different taste in cornmeal or wheat flour. Emilia giggled louder. At least she was smiling, that was already a novelty and a victory. Even so, I kept that expression of a few friends.

Zane said, eyeing his best friend and mother while slicing a piece of cake. Last year, Keira baked him a Dundee cake since Zane loves almonds. And from the looks of it, his best friend went for a more traditional and classic flavor for his cake and made him a Victoria sponge cake decorated with fresh strawberries around. We’re strictly a ‘cake mix from a box’ kinda family.” Camille explained and then groaned at the flavor. “I could stand coffee like this every day and I don’t even like coffee.”

My daughters smiled in excitement. “Oolong,” Emelia said with a nod. “Good choice. Now we can choose the tea sandwiches to go with it. We’ll have BLT sandwiches on wheat along with cucumber and cream on white and smoked salmon with caviar on sourdough. Then the scones and fruit tarts.”
