I shook my head, laughing as we drove out of the city. She sighed dramatically. “Okay, if I don’t say this now, I’ll be called Bella for the rest of my life. My name is Tessa.” “Tessa,” I repeated, letting it linger a bit longer than necessary. “Pretty name.” “Thank you,” she said. “But please, for the love of God, stop calling me Bella.” I nodded, looking thoughtful. “Can’t promise that.” She blinked. “What?” “You’ll always be my Bella,” I murmured, half to myself, but she definitely heard it.
