The sharp sound made my heart jump. I picked it up. “Hello?” “Maya… Maya!” It was one of the security men at Denim Company. His voice was rushed. Scared. “Something terrible has happened!” My heart dropped. “What happened?” I asked, already standing up. “There’s fire, ma’am. A big one. The company… it’s burning!” My mouth opened, but no sound came out. I froze. No. No, it can’t be. “What… what do you mean?” I asked again, my voice shaking.

The Emperor hesitated. What happened... during these four years? --- He swallowed his anger. "There is another important matter." He gestured toward the young woman beside him. "Come forward." The girl obediently stepped ahead. The hall erupted into whispers. Only Kiara remained expressionless. She had expected this moment. "I wish to introduce my second daughter." "Amelia Hyperion." "You accept her as your apprentice?!" Emperor Ao nodded quietly, as did Jing Hong. That was the last straw. Chu Xun leaped to his feet with rage. "No, no, no, no, no! She's my woman! How can the woman belonging to an Immortal Emperor be the apprentice of someone else?!" Jing Hong stared helplessly, not knowing what to do nor the reason behind Chu Xun's sudden losing his temper. Elara felt the air in her chest tighten. A Victor Hale text would be cold. Outside, the night swallowed the man. Inside, two women held their breath.

The student body went into applause. “Any question?” Chloe asked “What was behind the name Empire?” Cami was the person to ask the question. Yes Cami was still in school, she was still a grade away from graduating high school. “That is a great question. Empire was the name of my late Godmother; I owe her a lot so I named everything I own after her.” Chloe replied with a smile

Flora’s POV Gasps rippled through the room. “Are they insane?” “Why would they—” “They’re throwing money away!” The host revealed the next card. Eight. We now had Twenty-eight. Bust. Just like that, the round was over. Luca didn’t even need to show his second card. He had already won. His mood lifted instantly. He even stepped onto the stage, taking the microphone with a pleased smile. “Booth six, right? I remember you. Sorry for your loss—but I appreciate the generosity. If you’d like, we can arrange a private meeting later.”

Walking in I watch as everyone stays quiet. I see Evan look towards the fire exit, moving I rush to block it, grabbing him I throw him back. "What do you know?" "I was expecting your visit, after standing right there watching them talk and listening, I couldn't wait to watch her empire fall down."

As the doors opened for her, she stepped inside and was quite surprised to see the empress having tea with Prime Minister Rastus. “Well, well,” Empress Serena mused, “if it isn’t my husband’s mistress. You must have come here in a hurry to bribe the prime minister, but alas, Emery… No amount of money or blood will be able to buy him.” Emery just greeted her properly and refused to bite at her bait since that was not something she came there for. Hence, the empress found it rather annoying. She then stood and threw one last glance at the prime minister as if reminding him of something before leaving the room.

There was no one inside, not even any guards or servants. “Welcome back, Lady Himawari.” Suddenly, a voice echoed through the empty chamber. I looked around hoping to see where the voice came from. From behind his majesty’s throne, I saw the Empress step out. He had a nasty smile on her face and she was wearing the Emperor’s cape. I tried to stay calm, I need to make it seem like I don’t know what’s happening. “Greetings, your majesty.” I said while lowering my head. I was pretending to be oblivious, I knew the Empress had a lot of soldiers surrounding the area. I couldn’t act like I knew what was happening or else I’d be in trouble.
