But today, on the morning after the flowers closed and the answer was yes, I want to say something different. I want to say: *You were enough.* Not: you were going to become enough. Not: you would find out what you were worth. *You were enough.* Standing at that altar in a plum dress with your legs shaking and your spine straight, you were enough. You were the Warden of a city you had not yet found. You were the living centre of a chord that had not yet sounded. You were the person who would say yes four times on a warm stone beside a tall flowering plant in a garden above a river city — and you were that person already, that morning, before any of it had happened.

That was enough. More than enough.

Really. And that was enough. More than enough. Everything.

She bursted into tears. “You are always enough,” I said. “He's just mistaken.” I thought of telling her my story to inspire her but I didn't know the kind of person she was so I decided to only be brief even if I were to touch my story. “Jade, I don't know the kind of man that your mate is but all I can tell you for sure is that there are many people in the world and even if you're not enough for one person, you are more than enough for someone out there in the world, you just need to find there by putting yourself out there.”
