“I’m literally the opposite of that.” Lira rolls her eyes so hard I’m surprised they stay in her skull. Her silver curls bounce as she stands, then floats down gracefully from the shelf. “Caelora has me digging through these dusty tomes for Aether lore,” she says, brushing invisible dust off her dark leathers. “Trying to figure out how to activate Maerwynn’s power before it activates itself and, you know—destroys everything.” “Now you’re speaking my language,” I grin. She swats my chest, light but pointed.

“But we’re not done yet.” Erin emerged from behind a pillar, carrying an ancient tome they had found during their brief respite. “The guardian mentioned a ‘final piece.’ I think this might help.” She placed the book on the ground, flipping through its fragile pages. “It talks about a relic, a heartstone that can sever curses at their roots. It’s supposed to exist in the land of Vorellis.” Lena’s gaze darkened. Vorellis was a place spoken of in hushed tones, known for its unforgiving terrain and the ruthless mercenaries who guarded its borders.

He changed the subject. I squinted my eyes but didn’t say anything. He plucked the book out of my hand and adjusted his glasses. It reminded me of Andrew. “Danger clung to him like smoke, yet there was something devastatingly irresistible about the man who hunted monsters for a living,” Alaric read aloud. “Jesus! Vaelora!” He lowered the book and looked at me over his glasses. “Did you write this for a school project or you’ve suddenly picked an interest in fantasy writing?”

The beams retracted back to the pillars as I came to realized that we were the backup option for the defeat of the fog if anything happened to the Golden Queen, it was a pure coincidence that Gwenn ended up being the Golden Queen. “I understand now, take me back.” I whispered and that was how I jerked back to my body to see Orel straining to reach me while Elison was crying. “Shhhh.” I cooed to my son as Orel calmed down a bit. “Themis.” He called but my ears still felt heavy, I was still reeling for the information which was imparted on me. Something had also changed about me because I could see what us falling clearly was. An illusion.

And she guessed that it may be because he still was lingering over the incident. Moving the conversation ahead, she asked him once again, this time hoping to get a good answer with some words and not just a slight nod, “Well, what is so important that brings the almighty king Egon Heraoult

I quickly fished it back out of my bag before handing it over to him. He quickly read back through the mission before shaking his head as he went over to one of his bookcases and pulled out a large rolled piece of parchment. As he set it on the desk, I moved to stand behind it with him as he unrolled the map, setting a couple of heavy books along the edges to hold it in place before looking over it for a long moment with a sigh.
