“She’s not what she seems,” he said sharply. “No one appears from nowhere unless they’re hiding something.”
He hung up before Lawrence could respond.
The silence that followed was heavy. Ethan sat still for a moment, his reflection faint in the glass; calm, composed, but in his eyes there was the faintest flicker of unease
Then he pressed the intercom again.
“Ryan, come in.”
His assistant appeared almost immediately. “Yes, sir?”
“Find out everything about my wife,” Ethan said, each word deliberate. “Her name, family, everything, I want details on my desk before the day ends.”
