Ethan Winters Novels & Stories

I thought about being four years old and that sure, I thought about what it cost and what it was worth. Parents arrived in the particular way of people who are trying to appear casual about something they are not remotely casual about: phones out, good angles identified, the collective held breath of people about to be completely undone by small children singing about weather. Ethan had not been to one of these before, I knew that without asking, through observation, through the texture of his silences. He'd missed the winter one. He'd been in Tokyo, he'd sent flowers to the nursery, which Lily had accepted graciously and which had not, she'd made clear, been quite the same.

They finished the meal in a quieter, easier atmosphere than the one they had left at the rink. The next day was open and quiet. Jax left the apartment late morning and headed to the park on the edge of the city that ran a seasonal walk-through tower, dark, narrow, built to startle. He joined the short line at the ticket booth, paid, and stepped aside with the stub. That was when he saw Ethan a few metres away, ticket already in his hand, standing near the entrance railing. He looked restless, eyes flicking toward the path that led inside and then away again.

As Katrina and James caused a scene, I completely ignored them and kicked them out of my shop. Ethan stayed outside with them for a long time, waiting in vain for me to relent. But I never did. In the end, he had no choice but to take them back to the Snowfang Pack. Life after that was far from easy for them. Because of my departure, Ethan was utterly lost. Every corner of the villa seemed to be filled with my traces, reminding him that I wasn't just someone dispensable.

Any hope I once had for him had already been crushed beneath the weight of his repeated vengeance. Jason recovered first, stepping forward. "Ethan... what brings you here?" Ethan's eyes swept over the crowd with a cold, commanding calm. Only after everyone had felt the weight of his gaze did he answer. "I'm here to take my woman back." Jason froze. His gaze drifted to me, something calculating behind it. The air shifted, tense and uneasy. One of the drunken bigwigs couldn't take it anymore. He'd spent too long at the top of the Nightclaw ranks to let anyone walk in and trample his pride.

We country folks can handle the cold. "You just focus on your work. Don't come back. Make sure you get the full three million dollars before you return!" I agreed repeatedly and hung up. Rhett and Kelly looked delighted. Ruby and Nevin, however, hesitated. After all, that three million dollars would only go to Rhett and Kelly. They would not get a share. So, why should they stay stuck on that mountain waiting for the snow to stop? Nevin refused to accept it. He went outside again, trying to drive down the mountain to buy supplies.

Wendy set the cotton swab down and replied calmly, “I don’t want to talk about this right now.” “I know.” Austin smiled. “I just wanted you to know that I can wait.” She closed the first-aid kit. “Austin, I just ended a seven-year relationship. I only wanted to focus on the competition, win an award, and restart my career at the moment.” “I understand.” Austin nodded. Wendy said nothing more and went to the kitchen to pour some water. Her phone lit up on the coffee table. Austin glanced at it. It was an unfamiliar number that had sent a video.

Without thinking about his actions he held her hand tight and pulled her to his chest, hugging her tight as she finally cried. “Do- Domi-nic Hale’s grandfather was a hunter.” Skye started while hiccupping and sobbing, whilst clutching onto the Alpha and Hakan felt his whole body freeze and his blood run cold when he heard the words following her sentence, “a Legacy Wolf hunter.”

"Why did you run up to Skydrivee then? You spent the midwinter festival in his den. You even let the pack carvers put your mark on his family sled! Were you completely out of your mind?!" "I was," I said, my jaw tightening until my fangs pricked my tongue. "Every dream I have is filled with his scent. When he called me to the northern rink, my logic stayed in the southern woods. I wanted one last skate on clean ice." "You knew it would shatter him when you left, Ethan. Why couldn't you keep your wolf on a leash? How do you expect Collins and the pups to hunt after this? You didn't tell him about the council's threat, did you?"

His hands found my waist, grounding me, and for a moment, the endless thoughts of Marco’s last warnings and sudden creepy behavior dissolved. Ethan pulled back, his grin boyish, almost shy. “I’ve got news.” He stepped into the living room, shedding his jacket and tossing it over the leather couch. The city skyline glittered through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting silver light across his face. “I’ve got two weeks off work. I’m off for two whole weeks. No cases, no late-night calls, just… us.”

I didn’t tell her the truth, but she respected my wish. The new building Winter. co was finished last month. The building is huge with 88 floors and it takes the place at being the highest building in our city. It has to be a really big company. But there is no information to be found about it, only that the owners' names are Kian and Alex Winter.
