“I find this discussion to be uncomfortable,” Ean replied, still scowling.
“We used to be able to talk about anything,” Rector sighed, gazing off into the distance longingly.
“That was a long time ago,” Ean replied gruffly with another scoff.
“Indeed it was.”
“Do you have anything to eat?” Ean suddenly asked Kita.
“I have dried bread squares and dried fruit,” Kita replied, leaning over and reaching into her satchel, producing two smaller pouches, tossing them over, “I was on my way back when I saw the wolves stalking up the waterfall, so I must confess the nicer things are gone.”
