Edward committed suicide. There was nothing about what Eve talked about, someone must have played a game. He raked his fingers into his hair. This was messing with him. Her mother was the one missing, her brother Simon was dead, and same was her father killed by the same people. There was one person he had to find. Dino. Who was he working for since he was the underdog? He stared at the clock on the wall, it was already morning and the ten cups of coffee had taken all pilled up in his desk.

I paused, still not believing it thoroughly, and sank back into my thoughts. "Sir, Mr. Chris!" I could faintly hear my secretary's voice calling out. I blinked, looking at Evan, who was frowning. "Are you out of focus, sir? I've called you since earlier, but you didn't answer." I pressed my forehead lightly a few times, trying to focus on my presence in the office, not the two niches that were still haunting me. "What are you talking about? Please repeat." Evan exhaled. "I've read the news about that woman who turned out to be Nicole Duncan. She's truly amazing. It's a wonder we could never find her identity." He looked amazed. "Ah, but of course, Mr. Chris is still the best."

"Your presence is needed." "Just say it, Duncan," Evelora teased. "Is it truly the festival that compels you to summon me… or is it because of the girl?" Duncan sighed. "You assume too much, Evelora." "Oh… the ceremony is about to start," Evelora swiftly changed the subject, but before Duncan could reply— A scream tore through the air. Piercing. So loud and triggering that Ash surged to the surface immediately. Duncan’s head snapped back, his golden eyes widening, alert. "Did you hear that?" he asked, his breaths coming hard and fast.

“Because soon, things are going to change. And when they do… I don’t want you caught in the crossfire.” “Crossfire?” My voice wavered. “Ian, what are you into? What are you talking about” Instead of answering, he smirked faintly, leaning close enough for me to feel the heat of his breath. “Stay close to me, Eve. Or you might just… disappear.” Before I could respond, he brushed past me and disappeared into the night, leaving me trembling at the gate, unsure if the shiver down my spine was fear or something darker. ⸻

Maybe they also feel fear because they see that Duncan is ready to kill his opponents of another race. "Yes. I'll let you go. So tell me what you know," Duncan answered quickly. I open my eyes and stared at Duncan. I don't believe that he would release the two vampires after knowing what he wanted to know from them. Based on what I know of him, Duncan will still kill the two vampires. But in that case, I won't stop him if he kills those two evil vampires in front of us. Those vampires try to kill us earlier and if Duncan hadn't come we would probably both be dead by now. They surely drained my blood and the child who's with me. That's why Duncan should kill those two vampires.

The surrounding skin was swollen and raw, the dried blood dark and crusted. My legs felt weak as I inched closer, trembling all over. I kneeled by her side, carefully cleaning her up. Eve kept her eyes tightly shut, but tears continued to stream down her cheeks. I hugged her trembling body tightly. "Eve, let’s try to escape again! I’m ready this time. We’ll go together." Her eyes fluttered open, a hint of confusion in them. "Can I... really still get out?" I nodded firmly. She gently squeezed my hand, and a flicker of hope returned to her eyes.

Nothing really changed except for the lack or minimal punishments that Duncan imposes. I guess Duncan is just a nice guy that couldn’t bear to punish others. Which is what Skyr has been scolding him for. As I got closer and closer to the training facility, I noticed that squadron C were gathered outside. I wonder what they are doing. “What’s going on? Is this a new exercise?” I asked Eva as soon as I was standing right behind him.

His eyes widened in disbelief as Duncan advanced, his presence alone commanding obedience, fear, and death. The fight was merciless. I watched, heart pounding, as Duncan closed the distance between them. Cassian raised his weapon, desperation in his eyes. But Duncan didn’t flinch. He struck with precision born of months of survival, of pain endured, of love lost and vengeance earned. Within moments, Cassian’s head fell, and the threat that had loomed over our lives, over Alice’s life, was gone.

“Here. Eat.” I accepted the fruit and looked at him as he get another one. When he bit it, I bit on it too, imitating what he’s doing. We ate silently and I didn’t hear any noise except the creaking sound of the night and the crunchy fruits while we were munching. “What’s your name?” Do real vampires have names? He stopped on his track to look at me before averting it away like he’s getting burned by my gaze. “Prin-,” he shook his head. “Dash Slaughtrus Vandelion.”

came the answer. Duncan went back to Burn who he found patiently waiting for him. He swung himself into the saddle and from that high up he could see the Reiver Alpha talking to a soldier. He watched as the soldier put out his hand to shake the Alpha’s but the Alpha just looked at the human’s hand with disgust as he turned on his heel and stalked back to his car flanked by his Beta. “What was that?” asked Fael. “Not sure, I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.”
