We haven't talked for a while and I've missed her tiny voice. As I turned on the doorknob, hope's tiny voice stopped me. "Mummy!" She called and stood up from the bed." where are you going?" she asked.

Jewel stop walking and look behind her to see whose chirping voice she heard. "Hi!" Michael chirped as soon as Jewel look at him. "Hi! Good morning!" Jewel greeted him as they walked inside the elevator. "Where's the father-daughter going?" He beamed. "Where going to the mall, Dad's watch stop working it might need a new battery." Michael smile from ear to ear. "OH! What a coincidence, I'm heading there too." He exclaimed. “Do you mind if I tag along?" Jewel glance at her dad.

This compound full of people running toward something worth running toward. This was the life. The specific ordinary extraordinary life built from everything the storm had tried to prevent. Still here. Still building. Still choosing. Every morning. Every ordinary Tuesday. Every coffee at the right temperature. Every fixed point held steady through everything that tried to move it. I closed the notebook. Picked up my coffee. Let the morning be the morning. The work was waiting. I was ready for it. I was always ready for it. Because I had learned the most important thing.

We were doing okay. Better than okay. We were doing exactly what we needed to do. One day, one milestone, one moment at a time.

I force my mind to focus on the act of mopping the gym floors. If I’d had any idea how trashed the school gets after a single day, I would have had much more respect towards the school janitor. Right now, I was stuck completing my community hours after school. It is the first day and I’m already done with it. I had at least hoped that I would get the chance to spend some alone time with Lea but she was assigned something else to do which is why I’m here all alone, mopping the gym floor. This place is so empty I can hear the echoes of my breaths rattling against these grey and drab walls.

Today felt different, like the start of something new. I reached for my iPad again, scrolling through my ideas for the next vlog. One idea caught my eye, a simple yet powerful concept: "Moments That Matter." It felt fitting, almost poetic, given the events of the past few days. I wanted to create something that celebrated the little things—the laughter over coffee, the encouragement from friends, the quiet victories that often go unnoticed.
