Evangeline figured that was about power, not absence.
In the center of the glade, they hit a circle of mossy old stones, all gathered around a willow that looked like it had seen too much. No breeze, but the branches swayed anyway. There were faint, glowing runes on the bark—not even Evangeline could read them, and she’d seen her share of weird.
Then, out of the shadows: Eidara. She glided over in these deep green robes, hair silver (not granny style—more like “don’t mess with me, I’ll hex your bloodline” vibes). Her eyes were mossy green too, sharp, and way too knowing.
