Don Juan’s study was silent except for the ticking clock above the fireplace.
He stood by the window, one hand behind his back, the other holding a glass of aged whiskey. Across from him sat Vivienne, her face pale, her fingers clenched tightly in her lap.
“I thought this plan would work,” Juan muttered, not turning to look at her. “I believed your daughter could do this".
“She tried,” Vivienne replied. “But it didn’t work. He survived. And now it’s over.”
