Maya's POV People always assume obsession begins loudly they imagine madness appearing overnight and turning ordinary people cruel in a single moment but the truth is uglier because obsession grows quietly. It starts with wanting to be chosen then wanting to matter and then wanting somebody to look at you the way they look at someone else and eventually wanting turns into needing and somewhere between need and desperation you stop recognizing yourself.

“Emotions that started to cloud my life. I couldn’t see straight anymore. No matter what level of success I reached, it was never enough. I needed to beat him. Outshine him. Replace him. And when that wasn’t happening, I wanted to ruin him.” His knuckles whiten against the hospital blanket. “It became my only priority. Instead of living my life, I lived in the shadow of his. Every role, every contract, every car, every woman. I had to prove I was better. But all I proved was how lost I was.” He looks at me then, and it’s chilling — a man describing his own downfall as though narrating someone else’s life. “I was obsessed.” The words hang in the sterile air, heavy and damp, like condensation

Not like now, where I can’t replay his images of him in my head. I walk out the door not forgetting to delete my Reddit account. It's better to forget it all. I'm driving home but those words still echo in my mind. “Never get obsessed again, son. Don’t get caught.” Aunt Sarah had made sure she ingrained those words into my head and those very words have been my mantra for years. I should take a step back, because, holy fuck, this whole obsession thing is new. I didn’t know I could be this hyperfixated on a person until it becomes a noose that’s getting tighter around my throat with each passing day.

When I turned, I spotted Adrian again, sitting in the corner. He appeared dim and faded. Neither did he come to me, nor I to him. We just nodded, a faint gesture of acknowledgment, and that was all. I slid into the company car waiting for me outside, driving off once more under his gaze. The city lights flickered past the window, countless homes glowing against the night. I let my thoughts drift, empty, as the streets blurred by. Another year had passed, and the flowers had bloomed once more.

He clenched them, nails digging into his palms until the tremor slowed. Pacing the room, he muttered. “It has to be this way. No one else understands. No one else sees.” On the desk lay his notebook—pages filled with fevered scrawls. Adrian’s daily routine mapped in obsessive detail: circled times, underlined departures, crossed-out contingencies. At the top of the page in uneven letters were written. “ Adrian’s End” He looked to the window. The glass reflected his face, warped and pale, stretched thin by obsession. Not a loved A list actor anymore. Not the Leo everyone loved but Something harder. Something monstrous.

I need her. I need Lola back to tell me what to do, to chase those demons that are festering and growing inside of my head. I want to hear her voice to drown this madness. I need her or I’m going to lose my mind literary. “Who am I trying to talk to? You are a dead person. You might be standing here in front of me, bleeding, breathing and your heart beating quickly but still dead inside. You know nothing about love or emotions. You don’t feel sad, angry, frustration, or even fear.”

"I can't backstab him," "You are not backstabbing him. You are doing it for yourself, for your freedom. Why are you so concerned about him, tell me, was he concerned about you when he forced himself on you? Did he hear to your pleadings when he was blackmailing you? And From what you have told me, he wouldn't let you go, Bell. He is obsessed with you and obsession always leads to destruction. Always. Just think about yourself for once. Can you imagine living like this for the rest of your life?"

Her voice trails off, a hungry look in her gaze. I rub the back of my neck and stare at the floor. “Tempting, so tempting. Maybe next time, girls.” I guzzle down my drink as they whisper back and forth, probably plotting how to change my mind. I can’t make out what they’re saying and don’t try to. My mind is scattered in too many directions.

I walked to the casket of both my mother and Caramel, letting out all the words that I needed to let out. "Don't worry, everything will be fine." Someone said, patting my back from behind. I didn't bother to further know who the person was when I looked at the person but only nodded and moved away, returning to my seat. Justin, how could you?! I shook my head, still finding it difficult to believe that Justin could murder my loved ones just so he could have me. What sort of stupid obsession was this? Why couldn't he just let me be and let's go our separate ways?
