“Emotions that started to cloud my life. I couldn’t see straight anymore. No matter what level of success I reached, it was never enough. I needed to beat him. Outshine him. Replace him. And when that wasn’t happening, I wanted to ruin him.”
His knuckles whiten against the hospital blanket.
“It became my only priority. Instead of living my life, I lived in the shadow of his. Every role, every contract, every car, every woman. I had to prove I was better. But all I proved was how lost I was.”
He looks at me then, and it’s chilling — a man describing his own downfall as though narrating someone else’s life.
“I was obsessed.”
The words hang in the sterile air, heavy and damp, like condensation
