All is blurry and dark. My bones are cracking within me like a log in the fireplace. The dread of seeing a true life shifting of a wolf into a human has submerged my sanity.

“Then let’s see if you can take it.” Before I could respond, Lucy sprang at me with scary speed. I just avoided in time, twisting my body as her claws cut through the air where my throat had been just seconds ago. I retaliated, swinging at her ribs, but she was swift. Too fast. She offered Aislen a bloodied knitting needle. “It hurts like nothing else, but give it a good shove, and you won’t be pregnant anymore.” Aislen danced back from the puddle of blood that formed around Lucy’s feet, dripping down her legs and staining her socks. “They don’t care what happens to us,” Lucy told her, her skin turning black and her body crumbling into dust before Aislen’s eyes, until nothing remained but a sticky pool of blood reflecting her own face back at her.
