[Shahira's Pov – Three Months After the Hearing] The magical academy opened on a crisp autumn morning, with twelve students gathered in what had once been a storage building. Celeste stood at the front of the converted classroom, radiating enthusiasm despite her nerves. Behind her, diagrams of magical theory covered the walls—symbols, patterns, flow charts showing how different types of magic interacted. "Welcome," she said to the assembled wolves, "to the first day of what we're calling the Freedomborn Academy of Integrated Magic. Or FAIM for short, though I admit the acronym needs work."

It was built as a place where supernatural bloodlines could train, develop their abilities, and exist without the complications of hiding from the human world. Students come from all over, some enrolled young, some brought in later when their abilities manifest in ways. They live here, train here, eat here, and for the duration of their enrollment this is their entire world. There is no going home for the weekend. I wanted to rip away their money, their pride, and their precious family name until all they had left was dirt. The yard was packed with rich kids wearing fancy silk capes. This place wasn't really a school. Aethelgard Academy had been built on top of an ancient stone giant. When a student died or lost their magic, the ground would shake and swallow the failure to keep the monster sleeping. It turned the rich kids mean, hungry, and desperate to stay at the top of the board.

"The academy gave me your student profile this morning. It would be pretty embarrassing if I couldn't recognize the student I'm supposed to look after." I managed a small smile, but my attention had already drifted beyond her. The academy stretched before me like something pulled from a fairy tale. Towering white buildings reached toward the sky, trimmed with silver that glistened beneath the morning sun, while crystal fountains sparkled in the center of the courtyard and perfectly manicured gardens burst with flowers in every imaginable color. Students crossed the stone walkways laughing together, their confidence so effortless it was almost intimidating.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST *** The teacher walked into the classroom full of chattering and laughing. As she walked to the table, her footsteps echo on the tiled floor catching the attention of the pupils and they keep quiet. she puts her bag on the table, open it and removes some books. The rest of the class is uneventful. Everyone keeps their mouth shut as the professor drones on and on about vampires and faeries. The vampires are demonic, while the Faeries are angelic creatures. Vampires feed off your blood, faeries feed off your laughter, and so on and so forth. The subject might have been intriguing if I wasn’t stuck on the fact that a horde of succubi might be lying in wait. But in waiting for what, and why were they attacking the school? Worthy students are mythical beings and those who yield magic. We live in a world where magic exists: werewolves, vampires, and other creatures walk amongst us. The recruitment team stations themselves in certain parts of the region, and those who are interested in taking their tests and proving themselves are welcome to travel to the parts of the region where they are stationed and attempt to get into the school. That explained why there were a bunch of unfamiliar faces in town today.
