The librarian spent the next ten minutes carefully examining the fallen shelf, the scattered books, and the damaged railing. Kael helped stack the books into neat piles. Several of them had fallen open to random pages, and as he collected them, one caught his eye. He picked it up. The title on the open page read: On The Nature of Probability Manipulation in Pre-Civilization Eryndor. Kael read the first paragraph.

In the book I’d gotten from the library, he was killed, and she was held captive at the end, though it had tried to be represented as love. Well, that sent a clear message to me. Whoever did this wanted me dead and Jillie to be with them. I scoffed. Like that was going to happen.

The old man just sighed, he absolutely couldn't scold this kid. "Soon... Something's going to fall," Gail said. Sure enough, after Gail finished his words, the pile of books in the corner of the room fell. Gail smiled widely holding back a laugh. Even though he knew this would happen but still, it was ridiculous. "Ah...!" yelled the man as his books fell.
