She took a long sip of her coffee, her expression serious. “Look, I love you. You’re the most compassionate person I know. You see the good in everyone, even when they’re being a complete jerk. But that’s also your greatest weakness. You fall in love with potential. You see a broken person, and you think, ‘I can put the pieces back together.’ But people who are broken have to do that for themselves. You can’t do it for them.”
